Gerber Recon Task Light Torch

If you think the concept of multitasking is overrated, don’t tell the people at Gerber who developed the patent-pending Recon Task Light Torch. The torch’s LED format lets you choose from four different colours of light depending upon your needs at any particular time. Gerber’s official name for this proprietary technology is DIAL, which stands for Diode Illumination Adjustable Lens.

What this new design means is that you can dial in the colour of light that'll serve you best--white for general situations, red for preserving night vision, blue for identifying fluids and green for map reading. A clever yet practical feature that we added to this product is a flat spot just above the red lens, so that you can easily find the correct setting with your thumb in the dark.

The LED light in the Recon is highly efficient and reliable--it won't break like ordinary flashlight bulbs so you won’t need to replace the light during the lifetime of the product. The on/off switch is activated by screwing the cap of the torch, which ensures that there is no way for the torch to accidently turn on while it’s in your rucksack. All of this functionality is powered by a single AA battery. The Recon Task Light Torch weighs just 74 grams but delivers a tonne of task-specific light, right when you need it.
