First the reason I bought this tool: the knife blade is less than 3 inches long and non-locking. That, as far as I know, makes this tool legal to carry in the UK without justification. That's no small deal: as far as I know, only the SOG Paratool and Leatherman Juice fit in this category.

The pliers are actually surprisingly good. They slide out rather than folding, and lock in the open position. The jaws mate fairly well. They are clearly smaller than most multitool pliers and while not needlenose pliers as such, their thinness makes them suitable for applications where one would normally use needlenose pliers.

The main blade is part-serrated. It's a decent all-arond blade and ideally suited for opening packaging and other such domestic tasks. It took quite a bit of honing to get it to a sharpness I'm happy with, but it seems to keep its edge well enough. The sliplock mechanism feels a little mushy but does its job.

There are two nearly identical screwdrivers, one for small and one for large bits. Nearly identical, as one of them has a bottle opener at its base. The long shafts are shaped in such a way that when they are open, their axis is close to the middle point of the tool, which makes them fairly comfortable to use. The screwdrivers use a nonstandard (as far as I know) bit size, so I wouldn't want to lose a bit. It's interesting that Gerber chose to dedicate such a large part of the tool capacity to screwdrivers. I suspect the tool is designe for things like computer maintenance, and in this use the tool selection makes a lot of sense.

The scissors are a disappointment, particularly as most Gerber tools use high-quality Fiskars-branded scissors. They don't cut particularly well and they feel cheap and poorly finished.

No good unless you live in a clean room. 19 Aug 2013
By Long Time User - Published on Amazon.com
This tool looks and feels great out of the box. Everything is crisp and the pliers come out with 1 hand, something that many other multi-tools require 2 for. No complaints with the other multi-ness of the tool, blade is sharp and stays so, and surprisingly the scissors don't bend and actually cut things! But, BUT I can hardly use it in the real world. I live in a dusty place until it rains when it muds up, and take it out in my pack mountain biking and backpacking. It fills up with dirt and then has a hard time opening the pliers which now take 2 hands, and everything gets a gritty feeling when moving with play starting to form in all the moving joints. I'm giving this tool 3 stars though because thats what it is. A 3 star tool, It's ONLY $40 on amazon and in short you get what you pay for. Maybe I should give this 5 stars instead because its great... at being average. In the end though I'm only 3 stars worth of satisfied so thats what it gets.

TL;DR
Bottom Line: If you work in a city inside a building, or even a garage, and want a knife and a pair of pliers with some other quality tools for an average price buy it. If you plan on getting out in the dirt and really using the tool camping etc. Don't.
Very nice multitool 25 April 2014

I found this to be much nicer to use than leathermans. This is nice and smooth, and wont tear up pockets and stuff with sharp edges. The sliding pliers are really smooth now after i cleaned and lubricated everything. This is everything you could want in a tool for use in civilized places, this isnt really designed for heavy duty use while camping or out in the woods. But for everyday use in urban environments, it has what you need.

Scissors are very dull. No eyelet or small hole to attach a leash. Nice feel. Easy to use. Will try to exchange it due to scissors are so dull.
