Excellent and simple to use. Being into outdoor pursuits I know the value of a sharp knife. This little sharpener is excellent. It will put an excellent edge on all but the cheapest and nastiest of knives (they normally require something a little harsher to start them off).

The two grades make the sharpener versatile. Start with the course grade to bring the edge up and then finish with the fine. After that, all you normally need is a couple of wipes over the fine grade before using the knife to return it to a razor sharp edge.

I have purchased a number of them in the past for both myself and friends and family. I am having to purchase another because we have finally worn out the kitchen one after over five years of very regular use.

This isn't a bad sharpener at all. It won't give you a razor sharp edge but it will tidy up your blade so it's smooth and clean and sharp enough. It's not really made for really blunt edged knives more a good blade that meeds the edge put back on it I would say. I think a lot of people are getting confused here and expect the ceramic discs to revolve as you draw/push the blade through. . .they don't! I suppose like anything else it takes a few goes to get the technique/angle right and you don't have to push down or force the blade. Just place it in and smoothly draw/push through the discs virtually under the blades own weight. You do get a course and a fine grade set of discs on this little compact sharpener. It has a nice little grip for you to hold and a lanyard hole for your keyring. This also isn't for larger knives but suited to camping/fishing use. A good little sharpener for the price.

I was very impressed with the speed at which the product was delivered. The product itself is small, very easy to use and does the job. I have yet to get a razor sharp finish on my knives but they aren't far off. i would recommend this product 100%.

This really is simple little product. The plastic moulding is sturdy and there is a depression for your thumb/finger grip, but it does not act as a safety guard. As with any tool, you need to exercise caution.

You need to be careful with the angle in which you draw the blade through the sharpening rods as the blade can cut into the plastic housing.

My only gripe with this product which lost it a star:
I have a Gerber lock knife which has a circular rod that runs through the back edge of the blade to allow for 1 hand opening, this rod interferes with the sharpening tool, it prevents the full length draw of the blade and as such it can only sharpen the top 3/4 of the blade. If you have such a knife you may be a little dissapointed. If your knife is just a flat blade, then it is an ideal light-weight toolbox/rucksack additive.

it works. It brought back to life an old swiss army knife I had lying around. I'm thinking on using this on my kitchen knives as well. Simple to use and effective. It requires a little practice. Definitely recommended.

A very reasonably priced item, and I thought I'd take a gamble with it. On it's arrival I was impressed with the packaging, very professional and well designed, this suggested to me that this is obviously a successful product.

The product itself is small, well designed ergonomically and very easy to use. I sharpened a very blunt kitchen knife, and within a couple of minutes it was as good as new.

The sharpeners themselves are ceramic discs, not sure at this time what the lifespan is.

There is a small hole in the corner so that the item can be hung from a hook (if you choose not to carry it around in your pocket!).

Overall very impressive and worth the price.

I have used several straight blade sharpeners over the years, and this I can describe as very capable of putting a decent edge of most knives. You'll not get a razor's edge as a result (razor = can shave with it), but it will certainly take off any burrs on the blade and with the fine ceramic side you'll get a nice even sheen on both edges of the blade. This sharpener weighs virtually nothing and can be kept in a pocket without knowing it's there.

If you after a serious sharpener, you might be better looking for a ceramic rod style sharpener from the likes of GATCO, which will allow you to put your own angle of edge on your knife, whereas with this Gerber you are restricted to their specific angle, which may not suit every blade.

All in all, this is a good sharpener, which is ideal for a camping trip away as a back up in case your blade gets dull - but probably not suitable for a permanent sharpener.

I have a Gerber Lock Knife that gets a great deal of use from fishing.
Contrary to some reviews, my knife has raised thumb screws on the blade
and this sharpener still works wonderfully well. My Knife is back on song.
    Great item
