Hi,
I've had eighteen novels published (sixteen crime, one historical and one romance). My first novel was published in 1991, That was a romance called Land of Dreams. But I then switched to crime and Dead Before Morning, the first in my Rafferty & Llewellyn crime series was taken from Macmillan's slush pile and published in 1993. Macmillan published the first four in my currently fourteen-strong Rafferty & Llewellyn mystery series. I was also published by St Martin's Press in NY and Worldwide (PB).
I'm now published by Severn House in regular print, large print and paperback and in audio by Soundings.
It wasn't an easy road: I was writing for some time with no success and then I hit thirty and decided to make a more determined effort to get published. Six years later, I held my first book in my hands. I'm now writing my eighteenth. All the rejections just made me more determined. My first two books were taken from the slush piles of Robert Hale and Macilllan respectively and no, I knew no one in publishing, but I didn't let that stop me. Blissful ignorance is a wonderful thing! If I'd known how long the rejections would continue who knows if I'd have carried on.
I was born and lived most of my life in London, but George, my husband and I, moved to Norfolk in 2000 and love it. We'd never go back to the Smoke. In our garden in Norfolk we have room to grown our own vegetables and we have a greenhouse where I grown flowers from seed and cuttings. Just call me Alanna Titchmarsh!
My very best wishesw.
