Geraldene Holt's Complete Book of Herbs
My first book of herbs and still my favorite. It is beautifully photographed!

A three part lay out covers:
HERB GARDENING: both historically and designs including formal garden layouts, propagation and includes an herb Dictionary with Latin names, cultivation and uses of herbs from allium to violets.

A TASTE OF HERBS: recipes from soups and first courses to desserts, pantry essentials and drinks.

INDOOR HERBAL: indoor herb gardens, herb decorations, aromatic herbs, beauty potions and health. Includes a medicinal herb directory and a wonderful cultivation chart.

organized extremely well, excellent recipes from simple easy to attempt to complex (perhaps one day . . . ) including medicinal recipes. excellent directories and cultivation charts. I really have enjoyed learning about herbs over the last couple of decades and this book started me off and continues to draw me back when in search of new directions and recipes to take to my local herb society meeting suppers.
