Another Gentle Stevenson Romance 30 April 2009
By Anne M. Hunter - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Gerald and Elizabeth are brother and sister with no other surviving relatives, who find redemption and love with each other's help. While the book was written in the late sixties, it feels more like it's set in the twenties or thirties, when respectable people had servants and dressed for dinner. There's not a hint of the actual culture of 60's London, where much of the book is set. Nevertheless the book is extremely pleasant and absorbing.

Comfort Food for the Emotions 6 April 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This is a lightweight mystery/romance that proceeds at a gentle pace. I won't outline the story, because, while it interesting enough to propel you through, it's not the major attraction. It is a quiet, restful book, with likable people who lead mildly unusual lives. The only villain is far away; he never appears in person. Over the years this has become a "comfort food" book. I re-read it when I am not feeling very cheerful. If it does not make me cheerful, it at least imparts a sense of contentment, an "all's right with the world" feeling.

Love D.E. Stevenson 3 Nov 2012
By Barbara Hymas - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
D.E. Stevenson is one of my favorite authors. I thoroughly enjoyed this story about a brother, who is escaping his past, and his sister, whose life is is on hold due to the past events. D.E. Stevenson's books always seem to have very satisfying endings. The language is clean and nothing offensive. Always a pleasure to read. I wish all her books would come back into print. Who couldn't use a good escape from reality!

Very good reading. 31 Dec 2012
By Curtiss A. Matlock - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Written in the middle of the last century, but a novel of people and relationships that is timeless. I like the softness of the story, yet not shying from tough issues. I just love D. E. Stevenson's writing, and have set out to read as many of her stories as possible. Oh--the Gerald and Elizabeth of this story are brother and sister, a unique plot for a novel.
An excellent story with a bit of suspense 29 Jun 2014
By Marina Green - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
If you love DE Stevenson, like I do, you'll enjoy this book. There is a bit of suspense in it, but you'll be able to figure out the solution quite awhile before the characters do--that's okay, since it makes the book more enjoyable (it's clear that there will be a happy ending for all the characters).
