Volume IV of the biography of George Grivas (in Greek) deals with the last four years of his life (1971-1974) based on his secret archives and personal diary.
It describes his escape from Athens in August 1971 and his dangerous journey and secret arrival in Cyprus.
This last volume presents new evidence on the main reasons that drove Grivas back in Cyprus and dramatic new detail on the formation of EOKA B, its aims and objectives. The author gives a daily account of the movements, the meetings, the thoughts and soul-searching of Grivas. First time information sheds light to the aims of the General during the last four years of his life. His close associates as well as the sponsors of EOKA B are revealed.
This volume also deals with the reactions and actions of archbishop Makarios in dealing with Grivas and its organisation. Detail is given of the unsuccessful attempt to heal the rift between the two men and the reasons for their failure to reconcile are examined.
Finally the author gives a dramatic account of the last days of Grivas, presenting the real cause of his death on the 27th January 1974 and examines the fate of his under preservation heart.
