To celebrate his 55th Birthday on June 26th, 1998 Georgie Fame assembled an All-Star big band for a concert at London's Forum Theatre. Featuring musicians whom he has been associated during his 39 years as a professional musician, the programme consisted of material covering a period of 34 years dating from Fame's first performances with the Harry South Big Band in 1964, through the many dates with the Count Basie Orchestra in the late 60's, and the numerous big bands throughout Europe, Scandinavia, Australasia and the U.S.A. which Georgie continues to work with up to the present day.
The band was conducted by Steve Gray with arrangements by Harry South, Tubby Hayes, Rob Pronk, Chico O'Farrell, Alan Downey, Alan Ganley, and Steve Gray himself. The arrangement of "Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde" by Chico O'Farrell dates from Fames tenure with the Count Basie Orchestra.
