This book has brought together for the first time from Private and leading Museums paintings of which over half had never been published before newly photographed epecially for this book published in 1987 with particular care taken to render the colour scale and power of O'Keeffe's art. The format is 16x13 3/8 inches the plates in most cases are only slightly less than half original size. fully indexed with b'w thumbnail prints, sizes and dates. At the end is an 'afterword' by editor Nicholas Callaway April 1987 Japan.
To those who admire O'Keeffe's work, especially her Flower Painings will put this on their wish list, and not least it is an exceptional bound copy of many of her greatest works that probably cannot be seen in their original canvas

Flowers 29 Nov 2008

I have not seen this paperback edition, but I was a great afficianado of the hardcover version from the mid-80's. Probably my favorite book ever. It is beautiful. She was a genius and this book accurately reproduces her gift.

Format:Hardcover
This book edited by Nicholas Callaway brought together for the first time from private collections and leading museums paintings of which over half had never been published before; all have been newly photographed especially for this book with particular care taken to render the utmost fidelitiy of colour, scale and the power of O'Keeffe's art in the centennial year of her birth. The book format is 16"x13 3/8" the plates in most cases are just less then half original size, in order to convey the sense of magnified scale. The largest painting is 72"x84" and the smallest 7 1/2"x9". The brilliance of the paintings is tremendous,Poppies, iris, Calla Lilly,Roses to name just a few.
There is an 'Afterword' written by the editor with excerpts from her biography by Laurie Lisle.

This is definately a book to go on any flower lovers list and especially for those who love Georgia O'Keeffe's work, this is probably the best copy in one bound book of her flower painings.
