I had this album as a teenager in the late Seventies and I was blown away by GT's power and immediacy. For some reason, I never replaced it when CDs came along until I recently rediscovered it.
To my delight, it has lost none of it's freshness and immediacy and the tracks are now a fixture in my playlists. I can highly recommend this to anyone who loves the raw and direct sound of a blues slide guitar.

Absolutely THE best debut album 7 Oct. 2013
By Ms. E. J. Baker - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
This album is not available in the UK anymore and I had to ship mine from the US. I didn''t hesitate to do so because this is an absolute must have George Thorogood Album. Some of the tracks on this 1977 release are still part of the live show well over 30 years later and as good now as they were on this album. Ride on Josephine is a great track, Madison Blues is one of the said numbers that is still played live and featured regularly, so too is One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer. The album may be old but it clearly shows how class these guys were then and they still are. If you get the chance go and see them live, grab it with both hands, they really know how to have a good time, and so will you no matter what worries you may have before you go and see them, they'll feel a whole lot different afterwards. I cant rate this album higher than 5 but if I could I would, its absolutely brilliant.

1977 debut beats the blues 7 Sept. 2013
By hyperbolium - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
George Thorogood unleashed his Delaware-born and Boston-bred blues just in time to catch a transition in FM radio. Pressured by the growth of AOR stations, and striving to maintain currency with younger audiences, freeform stations were both tightening their playlists and stretching beyond their heritage artists. Thorogood's tradition-laden blues (eight of this debut album's ten cuts are covers) was an easy bridge from alternative FM's roots, and the ferocity with which he and his band (not accidentally christened "The Destroyers") played was fresh, powerful and a surprisingly good fit with the punk rock and new wave that were just starting to pick up commercial notice. The eight-minute "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" quickly became a bathroom-break staple on both commercial and college stations, and covers of Earl Hooker, Elmore James, Robert Johnson and Bo Diddley sent DJs to the stacks for some history lessons. Thirty-six years after its initial issue, the album hasn't lost a bit of its drawing power, and the steady, unrelenting drive of "Ride on Josephine" will still make your feet move. Rounder's 2013 reissue is a straight-up reproduction of the album's original ten tracks, with a four-page booklet that includes a double-panel gatefold photograph and back-panel credits. Great Album and song "Ride On Josephine" 5 Jan. 2015
By Tecumseh - Published on Amazon.com

This is one of my favorite albums of George Thorogood & The Destroyers. My favorite song from this album is "Ride On Josephine", then of course "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer". Back in my High School days my favorite groups were George Thorogood, Styx, Foreigner, and Meatloaf. Also was 'power shifting' the Firebird when listening to George T.
