From the cheap, highly pixelated title sequence to the end credits, this DVD is little but a poor quality attempt to cash in on George Harrison's death.

The interviews centre around two people. Firstly, an ex-PR agent for The Beatles, who doesn't seem to have anything particularly interesting or enlightening about George to tell us - unless you really haven't got a clue who George Harrison was! Secondly, there's the gentleman who despite going to Primary school with George, admits he lost touch with him at the age of 20 and knew nothing of his spirituality!

The 'interviews' with Paul McCartney, George Martin, or any other relevant person are merely snippets of already well used news reel. In the 80 mins or so that the feature lasts, you only hear George Harrison actually speaking for about 3 minutes - again largely second hand stuff.

As the DVD is completely unofficial, there is no Beatles or Harrison music played or performed. Partly due to this, there is an incredible lack of any chronology. We skip from the Hamburg days to the MBEs, back to his schooldays, to his first marriage, then back to school again! .The only music you get is Buddy Holly's "Words of Love", and excerpts from some band performing a song called "In Spite Of All The Danger" - NOT the song of the same name featured on the Anthology 1 album.

In brief, a shoddy film for your money. George wouldn't have approved.

It's a shame that the only existing DVD on George Harrison's brilliant life and music should be this. "The quiet one" is definitely not worth your money! Apart from the "always available" George Martin, this DVD only includes interviews with people that George Harrison wouldn't probably remember having met and that have nothing new to say. The only good thing about this DVD is the less known footage... that you might catch if you don't blink. Isn't it time that somebody released a proper George Harrison DVD? I would really like that!

Better Kept Quiet 23 Dec 2002
Format:DVD
I was very disappointed with this DVD. A small notice on the back states it is not an 'official' release and its contents seem familiar material. In fact, the video footage is largely news and local TV footage separated with interviews with people who knew George such as a friend from school. There is an interview with George Martin from just after George died and news footage of Paul McCartney with his comments.
This DVD is probably only one for the true completist fan otherwise it is a forgettable 'watch once' DVD which seems to have been produced on a low budget.
