This is a useful addition to kitchen facilities.
It is perhaps over-hyped on the digital television selling channels and you need to experiment a bit to get best performance as times suggested in the meagre recipe booklet, that accompanies the product, tend to be optimistic.
There are no controls other than the timer - I would suggest initially, until you are used to the machine, allow longer cooking times on the timer but inspect at intervals to monitor cooking progress and switch off if cooking is completed before the timer finishes. As there are no temperature controls, be aware that items on the bottom may over brown, if not burn, unless you turn them at intervals.
The dish that fits in the top is very flimsy and fairly small (probably not big enough for many things for a family but adequate for two). Nevertheless it can be very useful and good for small stews, slim cuts of meat, fish and even sponge cakes. Without the insert, the unit can cope with a whole chicken of up to about 3½ lbs in weight and family size joints although, as the meat sits directly on the base just above the bottom element, it can cook unevenly as suggested in the previous paragraph.
Cleaning is relatively easy and achieved normally by gentle wiping with paper cloths. Care is needed to avoid damaging the non-stick coating especially on the dish insert. However, usually any deposits left on the surface coating come away easily if cleaning is carried out after every use.
Overall, I would say this is a very handy device, not brilliant but a useful addition to a kitchen which allows a range of options avoiding use of the traditional cooker. If you can get it at a reasonable discount, it is a worthwhile buy.
