Product Description

Review

Each one a highly individualistic character-study, not in the least resembling any other figure in the cavalcade. A series of perfect miniatures, etched in exquisite detail. (Theatre World)

She had no image to preserve, no axe to grind, no future management to impress. This total lack of "angst" came across the footlights and engendered an atmosphere of extraordinary trust and love, so that audiences under her spell felt safe and cozy and somehow cherished. (Virginia Graham)

'Very funny . . . Grenfell was one of the finest humorous writers and performers of the 20th century.' (Independent on Sunday) --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Book Description

The very best sketches and songs from Joyce Grenfell for old and new fans everywhere --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I loved this book as a child and have just given it to my niece for her 10th birthday. She absolutely loves it!

Loved this since I was a kid. Recommended reading (especially outloud in faux posh 1970's voice!) I have "entertained" (for entertained read 'irritated') friends and work colleagues with my cheery joyce grenfell impressions. If you buy this book you could be like me, single (he had no sense of humour), unemployed (the finance meeting neede livening up) and able to count your friends..... (I can still count!, my life's not that tragic!) Read the book out loud and laugh at yourself!

Joyce Grenfell has the nursery teacher off to a tee. If you are one, you'll recognise yourself instantly. If not, it's a great insight into what goes on in a class of very young children. These thing clearly don't date - the curriculum may change but the antics of little ones don't.

The nursery school monologues in this book are absolutely priceless, timeless and hilarious.

If you have small children yourself or you have taught nursery or reception school children you must read it!

I read this book to my children and change the names published in the book to theirs which amuses them very much. Joyce Grenfell was a fantastic entertainer and this comes across in this book

I am too young to remember Joyce Grenfell, but I have heard some of her sketches and people have told me about her. This book is a collection of monologues and articles. I have not laughed so much over a book in a long time! It is superb! Do buy it and enjoy good, clean humour the like of which we just do not get today.
