Geomag is a magnetic construction toy that is based on simple principles of geometry. The main pieces are plastic covered metal rods with special strong magnets at the ends, and nickel plated steel spheres which can connect the rods together and allow them to rotate freely.
Geomag also makes sets of coloured panels packaged with transparent plastic covered rods (silvery appearance from the metal inside), which allow you to add solidity and colour to your Geomag creations.
Geomag is available in a variety of colours: red, yellow, green, blue, glow-in-the-dark and the special metallic azure.

Geomags are small bars that are very strong magnets (do not leave them near your credit cards!) only the bars are magnetic, not the balls. Each bar has a positive and a negitive end, so every end will either attract or repel the end of another magnet.
You build by taking a bar, putting a metal ball on the end of it, which is then held on magnetically whichever end it is, then add another bar onto the other side of the ball. The balls are a clever addition as it means the second bar can then be at any angle to the first bar. Hence it is easy to quickly build a model. Adding the panels gives it extra strength, otherwise the whole lot can lean out of shape easily.
It's not just building the shapes that is fun, but the whole 'playing with magnets' thing. You will find them stuck, by your child, all over objects in your house, especially radiators.
I highly recommend this as everyone loves playing with them, they are good strong magnets (not like some of the cheaper copies) they don't take up much room and they are also educational.

I have a very inquisitive, active 3 and a half year old. He is never still and he's never quiet. He started using geomag at Kindergarten and the teachers said they couldn't believe how fascinated he was in it. I bought this set as a decent sized starter, and I have never seen him so concentrated on a toy. It's amazing stuff - I have to admit I like playing with it too :-) If it can keep my son still and silent for hours, then it must be good!

This is a very good way to use magnets, to get more strenth out of any thing you build, hold a geo-mag loosly in you fingers, if it repls a bit turn it around, this way you have a stronger construction, also use the panel inserts, this will not only make what you build look better, but it also makes it far stronger.
