Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Geomag is a magnetic construction toy that is based on simple principles of geometry. The main pieces are plastic covered metal rods with special strong magnets at the ends, and nickel plated steel spheres which can connect the rods together and allow them to rotate freely.

The Geomag Colour collections, available in a variety of colours (red, yellow, green and blue) are the extraordinary models that allow all targets to enter the Geomag world.

You can create extraordinary constructions and models of every kind. Enticing and colourful, the colour collections introduce you to the laws of magnetism and the foundations of geometry and physics.
Please note: Colours May Vary (BLUE,GREEN,YELLOW)

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
A few years ago I saw this "toy" advertised on cartoon network (I guess I am immature) and knew I wanted it, knew it was the kind of thing I would love, I missed out on getting mechano for christmas when I was a kid and this seemed better yet. So yesterday, when shopping for a laptop (which I didn't get) I bought a box of geomag "colour" I don't have any panels yet but this is so cool, its cooler than the advert made it seem, and thats a rare thing, I have been playing for hours with them, spinning them (its so dynamic, spinning, moving, dancing) building stuff and just playing with magnets making them repel each other or having "magnet races" and so on. I can tell these will entertain for years.
All I would say is if you get it, get a larger box, you'll save money in the long run because once you realise how fun they are you will buy more so you can make larger more interesting constructs. Also I would educate any child you give this to on the dangers of putting magnets on disks, computer screens, hard drives etc because it can be expensive to learn that the hard way.

my 5 year old son just loves geomag - he got his first box about 1 1/2 years ago. He plays with it a lot - it is so easy to put together and he has made marvellous 3 dimensional boxes and sculptures . All my other (older) kids couldnt resist it either and also paly with it . Be warned though 42 pieces sounds a lot - but that includes the ball connectors and so it isnt really a lot on the end and we found you do need a lot to make good things. We have ended up buying many sets and asking granparents etc to do likewise. We did purchase some cheap supermarket copies which were awful- the designs fell apart when lifted - geomag has much much superior magnet power and can also be used for all sorts of fun magnetic experiments around the house - although I seem to constantly be hoovering up balls.

My daughter suffers from ADHD, she's nearly five...she loves this because it's easy to handle and she can make houses and pendulums. She especially enjoys the way she can collect all the pieces together by their instant attraction
