For anyone who has not had the pleasure of visiting Shropshire to see amongst other things the iconic Precambrian-Cambrian boundary at Ercall Quarries on the Wrekin which marks the first appearance of shelly fauna in the fossil record, and the begining of the Phanerozoic Eon, not to mention the facsinating story of the Long Mynd where the first fossils of Ediacaran affinity were first found in the mid nineteenth century, 'Geology of Shropshire' by Peter Toghil would be the ideal companion to fully appreciate all of what Shropshire has to offer geologically speaking! Highly recommended.
