These genuine Stihl leather chain saw gloves are ideal for working with a chain saw either around the garden or in a professional capacity. They offer a high degree of protection against injury, which means both increased safety for the wearer and enhanced working conditions in the workplace.
These Stihl leather chain saw gloves with cut protection are highly comfortable to wear thanks to the leather of which they are made, an inner fleece lining and the five-finger lightweight design. There is also a cut-resistant inlay in the backs of both gloves. This offers protection to the back of the hand only and excludes protection to the backs of the fingers and the cuff. These Stihl leather chain saw gloves are made to EN 381-7 standard, protection class 1, which is equivalent to 20 m/s. They are ideally suited for normal forest harvesting work carried out by professional loggers who have been thoroughly trained and instructed.
Please consult both the instructions for the gloves, as well as the owner’s manual of the power tool in question, before operating any machinery.

Amazon Verified Purchase
The important thing about these STIHL chainsaw gloves is that they are rated for a 20m/s chain. Although we use chains running at that speed, most people I operate with use gloves only rated for 16m/s. Call me cautious, but I like to match my PPE with the equipment that I am using.
So the good points of these gloves are:
(1) the protection is at 20m/s
(2) the protection is in both left and right gloves (not all chainsaw gloves provide protection in both gloves)
The downsides for me are:
(1) these gloves don't come in a wide range of sizes, which means they might not fit particularly well - not great when handling potentially dangerous equipment. For me, this is most obvious in the right thumb, which really isn't shaped/sized well for me - as a result flicking the chainsaw switch to off (as opposed to using the chain brake) with my right thumb requires concentration.
(2) the protection is only on the back of the hands, not in the cuffs (or fingers).
Ideally, I'd like gloves that work well and feel right both when I am working with the chainsaw(s) and when I am working in-between chainsawing. For what I do, I don't find these gloves ideal for the work in-between chainsawing, so I use these for chainsawing and Gold Leaf Tough Touch Gloves (...) in between. If STIHL could make a glove that feels like the Gold Leaf gloves, with protection on the back of the hand and down to the end of the longer glove (the Gold Leaf ones are longer - more like gauntlets), that would be ideal. In the meantime, I'll be using these STIHL gloves when using a 20m/s chainsaw as they do at least give the correct protection.

Really soft leather! Even after a few uses they were still nice and soft. Pretty waterproof too which is nice.
Match the Genuine Stihl Leather Work Gloves (Large) too so if you only want to use one chainsaw glove you can wear a matching pair of gloves still (most other chainsaw gloves offer only one hand protection). The added protection for both hands and a higher rating than other gloves is definitely a bonus.
