3.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to handle, 6 May 2007

I bought one of these models early in the new year. You need to be outside in calm conditions and without any obstructions. The tail sheared fom the main body which required a new main frame. The next impact broke the helicptor control housing which, as far as I can see cannot be replaced. Looking at the spares you can buy, it probably works out chepar to buy a second model and use the damaged one for spares.

Not as easy to fly as you think.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Despite the Bad Reviews, 17 Jul 2007
Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
Got this chopper last week, and despite allot of bad reviews it's actually great. I've taken it out a few times, had a lot of crashes including one into a large bush of vines and several into the side of my house and still it don't have a scratch on it. My recommendation is that if your going to buy one of these make sure you use it in big open space such as a park, where you are free from obstacles such as trees. Also try and use it over soft grass that way you will be guaranteed at least a fairly soft landing. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if your flying it indoors and in your backgarden or in bad weather your asking for it to break, use it properly and it's durable enough to withstand almost anything.

I was very impressed with the height of the chopper, it went around 4 stories up, so about 100ft in the air. Although I wasn't so impressed with the battery life.

If I was to give any tips, I'd say to hover it a metre or so off the ground and practise holding it steady and turning first of all. Then when landing be sure to give it slight boost just before you land which seems to help. Also never land with the blades still spinning as it can cause it topple over, take the power off just before you mount the ground.

Pros -

. Very inexpensive for an RC chopper.
. Extreamly durable.
. Good large size.
. Quick mover - take off in a matter of seconds.
. Easy to get into the air - easy to land.
. Extreme fun!
. Impressive altitude.

Cons -
. Battery lasts only 10 minutes.
. Only two channel, therefore you can only move up and down and left and right, no forward and backwards controls. Which means that it's fun to watch it fly but not for someone who wants complete control. Let's put it this way you can only have a short flight unless you want to be walking miles to collect the chopper when it lands.
. Large size aerial piece from remote control.

4.0 out of 5 stars i bought one!, 26 Jun 2007

i bought one this morning, broke it by 7pm!. had it flying round the office and crashed about 20 times, quite robust really. took it home and after a few more crashes in the garden, the tail rotor stopped working. checked the connections which seem fine, so maybe the small tail motor is kaput. will try to source a replacement tail unit as the manual shows part numbers for all bits. while it worked i had great fun. its not a four channel chopper so u cant really fly where u want to go, it heads where it wants to go i found!, great fun tho. one for the park. i landed it on the neighbours conservatory roof!
