I didn't like this book anywhere near as much as some of Garwood's others (i.e. such as 'The Bride' and 'Honour's Splendour'). The storyline was good, but as a heroine, I found Elisabeth to be very, very annoying. Even though Geoffery was clearly in the right many times in the cook, Garwood has Elisabeth winning every argument (why?). In addition, her behaviour was so incredibly stupid throughout the entire book (i.e. not being able to swim), and she doesn't understand WHY Geoffery's angry with her.
Though I'd recommend this book, I will point out that people will get a bit frustrated.

I am writing a review simply because none appear here. This, I believe, is due to the fact that anyone who knows the name Julie Garwood, knows she writes fabulous books. This one is like all her other great books, i.e., THE BRIDE, THE PRIZE, CASTLES, etc. -- an interesting historical combined with a wonderful love story. Garwood's books make you feel good and you will not be disappointed in this story.

I fell in love with Baron Geoffrey William Berkley, and I absolutely loved this book. Julie Garwood has become one of my favorite romance authors. I encourage people to read this book because it is truly worth it!!

Great book but funny ending!
I am a real fan of Julie Garwood's novels and this one certainly didn't let me down. Elizabeth was a lovely heroine and Geoffrey, if a tad arrogant, was great. Read more

SAVE YOUR MONEY!
THIS BOOK IS TOTALLY STUPID! THE CHARACTERS ARE BORING AND THE HERO IS TOO ARROGANT BY HALF.

Aye, I got tired of the dialogue!!
I liked the characters and the story well enough, but at times I laughed just from the words used. I have liked all of her other books that I have read far more than this one.
