I had always been tempted by one of these by the adverts on tv but wary of spending much on another bit of plastic to take up space in my kitchen. I decided to get one off ebay to try, paid about £7 so figured not much of a risk. When it came it was obviously not a genius one but a cheaper brand which I was expecting for the price but gave it a go and for about 2/3 weeks it was great and I thought I'd got myself a real bargain. Then the blades began to tarnish a bit and finally on the the blades bent on a potato and it was useless. I had had so much fun with it tho and used it so much more than I expected to that when I was at the ideal home show where there was a stall selling the genuine article for £20 I decided it was worth another go. The real deal one is so much better than the ebay knock off. I have had it a year now and use it at least 3/4 times a week on quite hard things like butternut squash and carrots and it's great. The pots it comes with are really useful and it comes into 3 bits to go in the dishwasher. The ebay one used to get food caught on the chopping surface that was hard to dig out but because my real one all comes to bits there is nowhere for food to get caught.
I suspect a lot of the bad reviews for nicer dicers come from people who for some reason have ended up with a cheap copy rather then the jml branded one. It comes with a 5 year guarantee so definitely worth the risk I would say if you are tempted by the idea but get it from a reputable dealer.

I was really looking forward to using my Nicer Dicer, I've seen the adverts and couldn't wait to try it. Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. On the adverts they are cutting up carrots, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, you name it, its been diced! But when you come to use it, the blades aren't strong enough, I've already bent the blades on my Nicer Dicer, and that was just cutting a pepper!

So for soft fruit and veg, yes, for anything that might be the slightest bit hard NO! unless you want a damaged machine of course.

Just the same as the others - used it 3 or 4 times, nowhere near powerfull enough to cut things up, I presume on the tv they soften the potatoes etc cos there is no way you can cut them with this. And, as with the others, the blades have fallen out of the cutting holder, from a pepper of all things.

Useless and money wasted !

When I saw this on the TV, I thought great it would save me from getting my big mixer out, every time. I have only used it twice and the blades bent and then fell out. So, I decided to use the smaller one and the same has happened to that one. So, save your money please and do not buy the Nicer Dicer because it does not do what it is supposed to do.

I saw all the negative reviews so didn't buy one. Then saw the JML one offer in woolworths... and I have to say its fantastic.... with 2 small children to constantly dice fruit and veg for... not to mention all the pastas and currys I make for which i use for the onions... its great...its hardly ever put away as I use it 2-3 times a day.. i've had mine for 3 months now and had no problem cutting anything... and the blades are fine..My mother in law has one and my sister in law too, and they love it also.. have just bought the mini dicer aswell...Can't paise it enough.. It saves so much time and everything cooks equally as its all diced to the same size..

If anyone wants to buy the nicer dicer please buy the original from JML or something because there are a lot of imported cheapened versions from china with useless blades and hinges.
If you do get the real deal its worth every penny and the blades are awesome!

I did not buy the one from here, but have an original Genius one which was bought in Woolworths just before they shut down. It is excellent and I use it every day without fail. When using them, you will find it easier if you wet the blades before use. Also if you are chopping onions, peppers or tomatoes, place them skin side down.

The only reason I am not giving at a full 5 (I wish I could give it 4 and a half) is that I feel perhaps the containers should either be larger, or that you should have the oprion to buy additional ones.

As others have said, buy the original Genius version from JML Also if you want a good laugh, watch the adverts on JML TV - they are hilarious!!

It's a good idea but the blades need to be stronger.
The blade came off the first day I had it and won't repair.
Pretty gutted.
