I think I must have most of the books written about Genesis so I wasn't going to miss out on this one too. Previous works have detailed the history of the band from a third-party perspective and so it was good to have a book where the text has come from the band members themselves along with their producers and managers. Anyone reading about Genesis for the first time may need to refer to other material as well for a full history, but I guess if you buy it you're already familiar with the band.

Obviously some of the photos have appeared before but there are numerous new ones and it is good that this book also captures the latest tour.

It is worth noting that the hardback version is very well put together, with thick glossy pages; a quality feel, befitting its RRP.

Just waiting for the DVD now - I was at the Manchester gig so can't wait to re-live the set (I've bought the CD of the Manchester concert which is another great buy).

REVELATION! 7 Sep 2007
I waited for 2 months for this book to arrive and when it did I wasn't disappointed! It's written from interviews from all band members and 'side men' in such a way that you feel part of conversation. Very detailed, personal and comprehensive. Pictures are great with a lot of snaps I hadn't seen before. For all you Genesis buffs out there what are you waiting for (well, apart from the Live 07 Tour DVD....)!!

What a wonderful book! The Genesis story as told by the boys themselves. It covers their entire history and doesn't hold back on the more difficult and interesting episodes (key people leaving, carrying on without Phil Collins etc), but most of all it reminds you of the great music they created and the memorable live shows. I always felt that Genesis put more great songs on one album than most bands managed in an entire career. Like other bands of the genre (King Crimson come to mind) there are distinct eras of the band (with Gabriel, early without Gabriel, later without Gabriel etc), all are covered here. The book is a quality product and crammed with great photos you won't have seen before. Anyway, please have no doubt that this is a truly wonderful book and at the Amazon price it is unmissable!

I felt I had to write a comment on this book. I am quite amazed to see a number of the reviewers being rather critical and opting to give this book just 3 stars. Read more

Quotes from everyone - but no narrative
The premise behind Genesis: Chapter and Verse sounds irresistible to any fan of the group: the whole story, from when the members first became interested in music right through to... Read more

A good read - but has its faults
As you'd expect from a dedicated fan of the band, I've been devouring this in huge chunks. Even though it's mostly a re-telling of stuff I largely knew already, I always find it... Read more

The Book of Genesis
Whoever "Tony Banks" is, he clearly has a bit of nerve claiming to be the author of this "Book of Moses" but I assume he is involved in the compilation of this volume. Read more

Big book very little content.
Having been a huge fan of the band since 1983, I have bought every release, seen shows from every tour and was very disapointed when they called it a day. Read more

I thought the price was steep, then saw the size!
I`ve only just begun to read this, but as Hezza Bezza says, it`s all there and more, and with some great photos too not seen before.
And it is BIG (A4 size) and it is HEAVY!
