5.0 out of 5 stars Nomeansno turn ska? 17 Sep 2001
Format:Audio CD
Nomeansno never fail to amaze or surprise with their musical ability or range of styles they easily drop in to. This three tracker sees them swap styles for each track yet produce something that can only be by Nomeansno.
A stunning vocal performance by Rob Wright would normally be the highlight, but on this he's outdone by the inclusion of Nomeansno's take on a ska-punk song. It just proves that they can be brilliant playing any style they want, and is worth buying just for this on song, although the other two are classics in their own right. I bet you've never heard a throwaway ska-punk song sound so sinister and ominous in the way only Nomeansno can manage!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 3 tracker 16 April 2004
Format:Audio CD
No Means No filled the gap between The Dance of the Headless Bourgeoisie and One albums with this brilliant 3 track single.
Opening with Sex Is Philosophy a typical NMN style medium paced rocker, with great sounding drums from John Wright. No Big Surprise follows, well written, well preformed this is NMN at their best, dark and forboding, features great vocals, it's a class track. The 3rd track is a curveball, I Get Up In The Morning is an out an out ska track, done NMN style, as strange as that sounds, but then again when have NMN ever done things in a conventional way.

5.0 out of 5 stars And these are supposed to be outtakes? 10 Oct 2001
By Mihajlo Lalic - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Here's what shows how great a great band really is - Nomeansno made an EP of the three "No One" outtakes, and any one of them could find its way onto an imaginary "best of" compilation. The first track is "Sex Is Philosophy", with metallic riffs which make it sound as if they covered Megadeth - and it's brilliant, along with excellent lyrics. The next one, "No Big Surprise", is nothing short of a masterpiece - 11 minutes long, with a drum solo, a mean, slow bass line, and some damn fine guitar work by the new guitar player (Tom, is it?), especially in the last minute of the song. Excellent lyrics, of course. And the last track is an intentionally idiotic ska-punk goof (well, not really punk, it's just real fast), with a yo-ho-ho uplifting feel and hillarious vocals by John the drummer. And the lyrics? Well, how about this: "I know you're worried, you're all distressed/You feel the tension then get depressed/But I don't squibble and I don't cry/'Cause I don't care and I'll tell you why/I get up in the morning, go to bed at night".
So it's great, it's cheap, and it's smart. Get it.
