This is a brilliant bit of kit. It is precision made with good quality components. The mirror is glass and gives a very clear view. It does require some assembly, the instructions seem to confuse things, I found it easier to just look at the diagram and use a bit of practical common sense. It Took me about 10 minutes to fit it but it could be done in 2 once you know how it goes. It has a solid fit directly on the top of the ST lever where it slides on and is then screwed into place. It can be moved "in" in the same way that you would a car wing mirror so for example you could rest the handlebar against a wall and protect the mirror. The friction is adjustable to personal preference. Once fitted it's semi permanent in that you need alan keys to remove it so it's not something you take off when you lock your bike up. This is a real quality item I wouldnt be without it. UPDATE. I feel should update my glowing review! Everything I said stands, however I've now done around 20 miles with it. It vibrates causing a distorted view when riding on anything less than glass smooth Tarmac. I have a different mirror fitted to a hybrid and a mountain bike and the vibration is very little in comparison, they don't have the long arm and don't use a glass mirror. The vibration in this mirror is due to the weight of the glass acting on the horizontal arm. This also causes the mirror to pull itself in as the wind pushes it so it has to be done up as tight as possible so it can't be conveniently pulled in and out as above! You can make out whats going to pass you, it still does it's job and I still think it's worth getting, but I've dropped it to 3 stars because of this.

I bought this mirror to go with my shimano handlebar shifter/break lever and it's superb !! it's in a perfect position to let you see right back down the road with the smallest of eye movement, is easily adjustable , and doesn't at all interfere with your hands anywhere on the drop-handlebar. I'm not the world's best fixer of things but didn't find any problem with using the instructions and the allen keys supplied to fix it into place in about 5 mins. It needs some quite hard turning of the allen keys but not excessively so, and , as it means it doesn't come loose again (mine hasn't after a week's cycling = 50 miles), it's worth it.

It vibrates a bit but only on quite a rough road surface but which bike mirror doesn't?

For my last bike I had a mirror which I had to attach into the tube of the end of handlebar. That meant quite a big eye movement away from the road in front. The mirrycycle mirror is soo much better.

I'm really pleased with it, and it's made me feel so much safer on my bike that I wouldn't want to be without one now. It only goes with certain shimano shifter/break levers unfortunately. Luckily, my new bike is one of them. Sorry for you people who haven't got that type. You will not regret buying one if you have.

Watch out that your shifter/break lever really is compatible though. Some shimano ones in fact are not, and it is a little difficult to check. The instructions tell you to look for a number on your lever under the rubber material on the hood which you then need to check against their little printed chart. I couldn't find this number there . Luckily, it was the right one in my case.

Mirricycle mirrors are great and worth 5 stars; I have a mountain one which works great. However this specific model does not fit post 2010 models of Shimano STI levers. There is a big sticker on the box saying this, but it is not mentioned anywhere on the web page. Returned to supplier.

I've tried many different sorts of bike mirrors over the years and this one is the best by far. It fits very easily onto Shimano STIs is really easy to adjust and works well on the road with very little vibration. I have to twist mine around when storing my bike but an occasional tighten with an Allen key keeps it in place.

I know this has already been stated in an earlier review (I wish I had spotted it before buying), but I think it's worth stating again. When you get your mirror their is a very clear label on the packaging that the mirror will not fit STI levers made 2010 or later. I really think Amazon should put this warning prominently on their website.
Other wise if you do have leavers that the mirror will fit, I think these levers are a brilliant idea. They mean that you do not have to look down to your drops to see what's behind you. The mirror seems robust and I think would work well. Unfortunately I cannot tell you what it's like on the road. My only gripe is that the instruction diagrams could be clearer, especially as I was trying to work out if I could manage a way to fit the mirror to levers it was not designed for!

Good side was the clamp for fixing to Shimano hoods - mine are Sora levers. Worked well. Position of the mirror was good and adjustment range was good.

Bad side was the complete inability to get the mirror to stay in position. Normal road vibration made the mirror droop down. Completely frustrating! Then when i was working on the mirror set up I dropped the mirror and it shattered.

So I have gone back to using a Cateye Race Mirror mounted in the bar end - good, firm adjustment, unbreakable plastic mirror. Job done - lesson learnt.
