The description for this product is a bold faced lie.

These are NOT Apple earbuds. I ordered this item and was shipped a knock-off pair of white generic headphones despite the NUMEROUS statements in their decription as "Apple iPod headphones made by Apple".

People need to stop reviewing Apple iPod earbuds on this page as this leads to more customers believing that they are actually made by Apple.

These aren't genuine iPod earphones. My little sister bought these as a present for me because my iPod earphones were starting to break (after nearly a year of constant use everyday - i go to uni in central london, so they're used up to 4 hours five days out of the week). The sound quality is horrendous and the earphones actually feel substantially lighter and less durable in comparison to the ones supplied with my iPod (one of them snapped off in my bag). So i would suggest that you wouldn't buy these ones, but rather go to the Apple Spares website and buy the genuine ones.

Well what can i say, i cant believe i have put up with these for almost a year now, got my ipod the back end of last may and i finally decided to throw away the crap headphones.

Points i have noticed over the months are that the left one falls out of my ear....alot, the sound is quiet so i can hear other peoples conversation, it doesnt help when the headphone starts creeping out of my ear either :-P.
This morning i tried my old headphones, from a philips 512mb mp3 player, about 3 years old, problem there was that the jack was to small so i found an extension and was blown away with the sound, i couldnt believe i had put up with these ones for so long when all i had to do was reuse my old ones, I have gone for some Sennheiser Cx300's through recomendation, glad to throw these apple earphones in the bin.

Oh and another point before i go is that the cable has started coming out of the headphones, which knocks the sound off that lil bit more, not good, AVOID AT ALL COSTS and get some decent ones!!!!!

I got these with my iPod Video last year, sound-wise they were okay to begin with, but after a few months the sound got worse and more crackly. They don't fit in the ear that well (unless I have really weird shaped ears, which I'm sure I don't!) and easily fall out. When your playing music quite loud it's easily hearable by other people, when your on a bus or something, you get horrible looks lol. And although mine haven't actually broken yet, you can tell just by looking at them and feeling them that they're crappy quality and could break any time.
I can't believe they are trying to make people pay £20 for these, that's terrible. I've has headphones from £1 shops better than these!

I advise not to buy.

Sound is fine on these as long as you are only 3 feet tall, wire supplied from headphone to jack is only 50cm long, which is ridiculous, so if you want to put an iPod or phone in your pocket it would have to be a shirt pocket. I think they should make this information available and I would certainly not be buying anything from these suppliers again. Absolute rubbish. Best if you want some decent ones spend an extra 75p and buy proper ones. Hope this is helpful Karl

Apple are great at iPods. They are not great at earphones. If you have lost or damaged yours then I would strongly recommend that you do not replace them like for like.

In essence, they do the job. However, with the sort of technology found inside the iPod, it really deserves earphones of a superior quality. My Apple earphones were tinny and I found them to damage easily. Coversely, invest a few pounds more for a pair of Sennheiser and you will (hopefully) delight in the results - more sturdy, a great range and a great feel all round.

I got an iPod Shuffle for Xmas 2007. After hearing about how rubbish the earphones were I expected them to break very quickly. My earphones have to be able to survive in my pocket when they're not in use. These lasted 3 months and I was being careful with this pair.
The right earphone crackles all the time and the volume is about half of the left earphone, the rubber around the actual earbud on both sides has started to come off as well.
However, for the 3 months that they worked I found the sound quality amazing. That is, in comparison with the £10 MP3 player and 99p earphones I was using before.
Also, they are the most comfortable earphones I've used but the 99p pair I brought 2 years ago which have been chewed by dogs, dropped in puddles and sat on still work. These Apple ones broke within 3 months.
Just don't bother wasting your money.

...so that I could buy my own headphones. I mean, why produce a really nice piece of kit, like the 3rd gen Nano, and then ruin the whole experience with these pathetic excuses for headphones.

I've no doubt that some will find them ok but with due respect this will be because some people just don't appreciate decent sound quality. Overall they have a reasonable clarity but bass is poor and adjusting the EQ even slightly results in distortion.

If you're thinking about buying these then my advice is don't bother, increase your budget by another £10 and buy a half decent pair of Sennheiser/Sony/insert other reasonable brand here (other than Apple). In fact my £15 pair of Sennheiser PMX40 neckbands are miles superior (okay so they're not in ear phones) and cost less too.

Come on Apple this is dire, dire stuff.
