Lyrically and musically, Generation is more cerebral than their debut, providing unequivocal evidence that this talented duo are much more than simply a "Streets Pt 2". --Paul Sullivan
Review But in keeping with all equilibrium theories, every positive must have a negative. Generation's downfall, like its predecessor Ego War, is that there aren't that many good tracks here (with the exception of the urban stanzas "I'm In Love" and "All Sing Along").
It may well be the sound of the suburbs, drawing on a cacophony of influences born out of a misspent youth, but to paraphrase that great 80s catchphrase, where's the beef?
The pointless "Eq-ing" tries to pick up the Adrian Sherwood post-punk deconstructive fusion of dub, rock and dance, and fails miserably. Even their trademark white toasting is a pale imitation of Gary Clail's Tackhead Sound System.
It has been argued that by throwing away the genre rulebook the Audio Bullys are innovators. They're not; although to fair to them they're certainly enjoying more success then those that have inspired them. --Lewis Dene

Audio Bullys - Generation,
This review is from: Generation (Audio CD)
The album, ‘Generation’ shows us just how much Audio Bullys have developed both lyrically and musically in the two years since their debut album ‘Ego Wars’ was released. ‘Generation’ contains a diverse range of musical styles and an increased emphasis on song writing, with collaborations from Suggs and Roots ManuvaAmidst the strong dance floor contenders such as “Keep on Moving” and “Shot You Down”, this album contains a surprising mix of laid back songs such as ‘I’m in love’ and ‘Struck by sound’. This album will certainly not be for everyone and there are a few tedious moments where the lyrics and beats seem repetitive. However Audio Bullys fans will not be disappointed as their unique combination of house, garage, beats and baselines, continues to live on. If you enjoy Dizzee Rascal, The Streets and Basement Jaxx then give this a try.

So much talent going to waste!,

The Audio Bullys are definitely one of my favourite groups because they just make music that sums up this lifestyle and make awesome original beats. On the flipside, they've gone and made an album that's filled with ridiculosuly repetitive stupid hooks. This means you can't really play the CD when you're around your friends that much because the album produces way too many "next track" moments. Another thing, when will UK rappers learn to stop singing the choruses? It sounds like s*%t 90% of the time! That goes for you too Mike Skinner, rapping and singing are two different talents!
I don't wanna be too negative because this is overall a pretty good album with fresh sounds, and the song "I'm in love" is a coming-down classic, but it's really frustrating that the Audio Bullys don't have a third ear to just say, "Hey mate, that hook's starting to sound stupid and annoying now, let's change it up a little..." Then these guys would have the talent to claim their place right at the top of the game! Buy it but don't expect everyone in the room to be into it.

Having not heard the Audio Bullys until i sampled 'Shot You Down', i decided that i would buy their 'Generation' album and what a great decision it was.I can't help but think of the 'Streets' when i listen to this album. It is a mix of dance with strong beats with a slight garage feel to some of the tracks. The stand out tracks on this album are: 1 - Shot You Down All the other tracks are worth a listen and the Collaborations with Suggs & Roots Manuva are brilliant. If you are like myself and a Fan of 'The Streets, but you also like upbeat Dance Tracks then you will love this album. Worth every penney!
