I downloaded this as background reading for a course in counseling that I am doing, helps to give a fuller oversight of Psychoanalysis.

I love this book as it is written as if a personal journal as well as a 'text' book. It is easy to understand from a beginners perspective as well as being a great resource of information from anybody going through the journey of learning or having finished studying Psychology. It has a wealth of interesting, thought provoking issues and I will read this again and again.

Not Freud at his best. Compared to his other works this moves quite slowly with out his characteristic detailed analysis and examples.

I have to admit, it's not the easiest read, not even by Freud's standards. I prefer his other works. However, it lays a firm foundation for anyone serious about psychoanalysis and a definite must for psychology students who have their heads in the clouds about how easy psychology is.

This is great to get an understanding on freud and his concepts but it can be rather laboured. It needs to used in conjunction with other tests for modern psychology.

This is a good introduction to the infancy of psychoanalysis. A suggestion would be to read it in conjunction with the early studies of Charcot.
