Great little projector for all those photos and home videos. Does not work with copyrighted materials and movie apps. 18 Oct. 2012

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This is a neat little projector for the iPhone 4 and 4S as it has the old 30 pin connector. I got it the same day I got iPhone 5 so it was a bit of a bummer that I can't use it with my new phone. Here is what I found so far:

-Small and sleek, fits in your hand or pocket and can be taken anywhere
-Projects upto 40-50 inches on any surface like walls, ceilings, or just about any light smooth surface
-Watch slideshows of your Photos from the Photo app by just starting the slideshow (tap on any picture and then on the slide show option that comes up in the bottom band. Or you can watch videos stored in Photo app or your video app.
-Easy simple controls, just switch on, plug into your iPhone 4 or 4S - a home screen pops up which changes to your slideshow/video as soon as you start it on your phone
-Easy to make videos of events on your iPhone and then plug phone into the Ipico and start watching - fun to take to parties, camping (project on a white bed sheet), or vacations.
- Supposed to work with some YouTube content but takes a workaround to get going. I could never start YouTube videos with the new iOS6 update. Called customer service, made me hold for over an hour and then told me it should work. Well it did not. But I found if I go to Facebook and then click on any video that links to Youtube it worked and then I could maximize it and then keep running it through Facebook by searching or using my favorites within that window. If anyone has a better solution please leave a comment.

-Does not work with new iPhone 5, may be possible with forthcoming 30 pin to lightning adapter
-Does NOT work with copyrighted content apps like Netflix, HBO to Go, VEVO, Crackle, Hulu or similar apps. It is supposed to work with Youtube non-copyrighted content as per their customer service but that's not always the case.
-Skimpy one sheet manual does not offer any help on how to troubleshoot videos that won't start, customer service is very unhelpful if you can get through to them
-No cooling fan in the unit, can get really hot if run for longer than 1 hour. Also heats up your phone, which may be bad for the phone over the longer term.
- Projected image - Clarity is good not great - you will have to fiddle with the slider to sharpen the image.
-Brightness is just medium so you will need a pretty dark "all lights off" room to view videos or slideshows.
-Battery charge lasts 1-1.5 hours, not really made for heavy movie watching

Overall a fun product for the price with some fun possibilities but frustrating to use as it plays limited content and is meant for mostly home videos and your pictures.

Good for the money 17 Oct. 2012

I enjoy my iPico. I am not sure what the confusion may be with other reviewers, but after I downloaded the free iPico app from the app store, i am able to project native pictures and movies, along with project websites, Facebook, and YouTube. It certainly isn't as bright as other projectors, but compared to other, more expensive projectors, its a good balance of portability, performance, and price.

This product is useless without the app 2 Aug. 2014

The PJ205 ipico projector is useless without the apple store app. Apple said the app is no longer available. I have contacted the ipico rep and they advise that the app was taken down. Its been over a month and I am not able to use the device. I will not recommend this product.

No App available! 23 July 2014

There is no App available for this projector. I called the manufacturer a few weeks ago and was told they were addressing problems, but no estimate of when the App would be available. This item does not work at all with my 4s phone, will be returning. I think Amazon should not sell anymore of these!!

Limited functionality and too expensive 25 Sept. 2012

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This product CAN DO ONLY ONE thing and that is:

1. Charge the device right out of the box.
2. Connect it to an iPhone or iPod Touch.
3. Slide the left button to focus on a nearby wall.
4. Open the Photos App, tap on any photo and start the slideshow.
5. Slideshow will be projected on the wall.

This device CANNOT do any of the following things, which one needs on a more frequent basis in real life:

1. Project images/videos directly on wall, while allowing a person to swipe manually.
2. Project images/videos from any photo app other than the native Photos.
3. Show the iPhone screen or any other on wall.
4. Project documents or PowerPoint slides.
5. Project anything else except photos/videos.

So, the company expects customers to spend around one hundred twenty to one hundred thirty dollars for just one feature?
What were their product managers thinking when they decided to make such a device?
It seems like none of the involved people have ever used an iPhone!

To summarize, this product provides a very low value for the money you will spend and will not give you an ability to project anything from your iPhone except images/videos in the Photos App. For such a limited functionality this device must be priced around a third of what it is now.
