Product Description

This adapter can adapts any 2.5" form factor SATA SSD (or hard drive) to any 3.5" form factor drive tray, without cables or hassles. Standard position mounting holes on Adapter's bottom and sides, equivalent to those found on a 3.5" hard drive, give you the flexibility to mount it anywhere a 3.5" drive is used.
Adapter's fixed mount connectors are attached to a simple circuit board, assuring solid connections betweeen devices, and the outside connector is positioned to plug into a backplane as the tray is inserted. Other advantages of this simple design include great compatibility and undiminished speed.

For anyone who's interested - fits perfectly into the old Mac Pro silver mounting bracket/case. Used a 1TB 2.5" Sata and it worked a treat!

I needed to fit a 2.5 inch drive into my HP microserver hot-plug 3.5 drive caddy

quickly fitted the drive inside the caddy using the screws supplied with it - used the screws that came with the HP to fit the caddy into the HP drive holder so I have some spare screws for a 3.5 drive now

plugged the drive into the case and it was recognised and working OK right away

I am now looking at getting another for a Supermicro server case that also got 3.5 HDD trays - no easy way to use a 2.5 in 3.5 caddy without an adapter like this

If you need a SSD drive in a standard size 3.5 slot I would recommend this

Exactly what was needed for installing Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD into Dell Inspiron 545. Bought a more simple caddy before which unfortunately did not have the correct holes for attaching the faceplate directly to the inside of Dell 545, this has the correct holes Had some spare screws, but would have been useful if screws were provided..

I took a punt on these based on one review that said they worked with the old Mac Pro. Well, they are half the price of the Icy Dock and work perfectly. I've now gone from a makeshift SSD caddy under the optical drive which caused issues with the optical drive sometimes, to having 3 drives installed in the correct position (1 the stock spinning HDD and 2 x 2.5" SSD using 2 of theses caddys). Definitely recommended.

Over the last couple of years, we've been gradually replacing all the spinning disks in our servers with SSDs. Most of the hard disks being replaced were in 3.5" hotswap SAS bays, whilst most of the new SSDs are 2.5" SATA units. As a result I've used a *lot* of these units, from various different manufacturers.

These are one of the best I've used, and at a sensible price point. Icy Dock and Kingston both do a plastic 3.5 to 2.5 caddy at a considerably higher price., but they're over-engineered for my requirements. I don't need quick replacement - that's what I already have 3.5" hotswap caddies for. These fit the bill perfectly.

These fit into an Enermax Hot-Swap drive caddy perfectly. Sturdy and accurately made with screw holes that line up exactly, so took moments to fit. They came with two sets of four screws. One set fits the holes in a Samsung EVO SSD. I guess the other set fit other drives?
Each of the PC's in my office have two hot swap drives, and these adaptors made it so easy to replace the vibrating, humming, mechanical HDDs with silent SSDs and so I can keep my smart and functional Enermax drive caddies - result!
The internal fan in each Enermax caddy isn't needed for an SSD, so it can be unplugged (look within the caddy) giving complete silence - bliss.
Very pleased to have found these. Good value, as I see similar adaptors for sale by Crown Trade on Amazon for £20.99

Perfect adapter to go with my Samsung SAM 850 Pro 512GB 2.5 inch SATA III Solid State Drive. The only disappointment was that either this or the disk drive did not come with the four tiny screws to secure the SSD disk in this cage. I have not marked this down because quiet frankly it should have come with the disk. The disk fitted perfectly and it felt like a very positive connector to the disk which then converted it for the SATA Power and Data cables.

Has done just what I wanted it for - using my 2.5" Crucial SSD as the startup disk in my HP Microserver. As the Microserver comes with 4 hotswap 3.5" bays, this makes it all so much easier when using SSDs in them. Don't know about the listing's heat dissipation claims, but the SSD runs cool anyway, so it's fairly irrelevant. Quality is certainly good enough at the price.
