Gemini JoyTAB 9.7 inch Android Tablet Computer with Capacitive Touch Screen (ARM Cortex A8 1.2Ghz CPU, 16GB Built in storage, 1GB RAM, HDMI, Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS)

I bought the Gemini JoyTAB 7 inch Android Tablet Computer with Capacitive Touch Screen (ARM Cortex A8 1.0Ghz CPU, 4GB Built in storage, 512MB RAM, Dual Mali-400 2D/3D Core Graphics, HDMI, Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS) a week ago for £129.99 now sold for £99 at amazon site and was surprised with the speed and how the Joy Tab works. Before now, I did not hear or know this brand of tablet PC. I read its review from the Editors choice in What Laptop PC and Smartphone and decided to tried it.
I own an iPad and iPhone but have been looking for not expensive replica for the kids. I have bought many androids that either ended with broken screen or stop working. They are also very slow and with very poor graphics.
This Gemini Joy Tab was very strong and sturdy and looked very attractive and the same time very fast and responding even faster to all sort of games and surprisingly very cheap at £99 for the 7" and £179 for the 9.7".
I took it to work to show my friends and they immediately concluded that it worked just like an iPad. That is my initial conclusion when I tried the device. I am now so obsessed with this item that I have ordered Six more (3 of the 7" and 3 of the 9.7") for my entire family. This includes one of the 9.7" for myself.
Apart from its very attractive design, it is very versatile and works brilliantly. It plays all the apps thrown in it with a brilliant colours and speed. Today, the Gemini Joy Tab have now become an eagerly awaited item in my family.
I did not intend to replace this with my iPad, but I am sure I am the very favourite person in the family now. I am glad that I came across this. I will recommend this to all in the same situation similar to mine. If what you are looking for is a tablet that does it all i.e. You Tube, iPlayer, browsing the internet or social websites, buy this Gemini Joy Tab for your rest of mind as I have tried this and it really does the job to my satisfaction.

The pad dimensions may differ slightly from those claimed but this in no way detracts from its function or its price. There was an initial problem that derived from the version of Ice Cream Sandwich that was loaded; a short message on the seller's page produced a clear solution, within a couple of hours. I was pointed to an ICS upgrade and to a pdf clearly instructing me how to make the upgrade. I worked.

The screen is large and clear and the colour is good, too. The memory, too, is more than adequate: I've added 24 apps but have only used just over half the available memory.

It's a good product at a good price and with a level of customer support that is rare to find.

This is an excellent tablet with a metal case and great connectivity something that is not found on some more expensive tablets. The screen is clear and colours are good. Start-up time is seconds rather than minutes. WiFi connected and I got the internet running easily without problems and it is faster than my HP laptop. Downloading apps is easy and fast. I also bought the Bluetooth keyboard which acts as a screen protector and stand as well as the keyboad. It's metal and so when clipped together with the JoyTab in its closed position the unit is really strong and still very thin. No real need to buy a case with is in place. The keyboard works great and you can use the JoyTab configured as a small laptop.
The touch screen works well and is responsive but I also bought a touch pen from Amazon to use with the screen and that works a treat without putting finger prints on the screen.
The Android operating system (ICS) was pre-loaded and is very good with lots of useful apps some of which are pre-loaded.

On the down side:
1)the main camera (2mp) could be better but is adequate.
2) The printed instructions are not bad but contain only the basics and I could not find a more fully detailed manual online. As an example I bought an ebook from Amazon (via Kindle app) but could not get the book to show on the JoyTab. Kindle help was exellent tho and explained how to "pull" the book in - which was simple once that was explained. (This may be a function of the Kindle app rather than the JoyTab - not sure?)

On the whole I am very pleased with this tablet and for the price I think it represents great value.
