1.0 out of 5 stars BAFO BF-1284 USB-to-Parallel Printer Cable 29 Mar 2007
Avoid buying this adaptor. Mine didn't work and didn't have a manual with it. I downloaded the manual from the BAFO site and whilst it does cover the installation OK, it suffers from many inconsistencies and errors. I tried installing it to interface an HP Laserjet 5p to a Dell PC running Windows XP. The plug-and-play status was recognised on power up and I loaded the driver OK and linked the driver to the correct new virtual port but the thing would just not print. At this cheap price it wasn't even worth the bother of returning it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Utter Rubbish 12 Aug 2007
Like Dr Cheeseman above, I tried to connect a HP Laserjet 6mp to a works laptop that only has USB port. Similarly NO instructions were provided however upon plugging the cable in it detected the correct printer right-away (I thought that was it, unfortunately not!)...however it then only prints a line of rubbish/garbage instead of what you wish to print. Despite getting HPs online wizard, updating drivers, increasing print memory...essentially everything possible...it still doesn't work. Can't find any help on the net for sorting out this unintelligible font issue....don't buy these products!! It just wastes your life...leave well alone.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT WINDOWS XP COMPATIBLE - DO NOT BUY 13 July 2007
This product sucks, it does not include drivers for most OS's despite the packing information. Save yourself time. Do NOT buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works with Vista and 7 28 April 2010
Verified Purchase
I bought this so that I could use my various (older) LPT printers with my new(er) vista and Windoze 7 laptops.

Both laptops identified the device when plugged into a USB port. Updated and downloaded drivers saw the printer via the converter without issue.

Both laptops are Acers and the printers are Samsung IZZIs (ML-4500). Have yet to try it with my HP 1100 and Panazonic printers.

I have just tried to configure this between my laptop running XP and my Deskjet 720c and it dosen't work. The product is cheap and if the documentation is anything to go by it's no wonder it dosen't work.

You get what you pay for and in this case he haw!!! dont buy.

Incidently I would give this 0 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars This Worked For Me 31 Mar 2010
This cable worked fine for me. I wanted to connect a Brother HL-1030 mono laser printer with only a parallel connection to my Desktop PC running Windows XP SP2.

I attached the cable, Windows detected the new hardware, New Hardware Wizard asked for the installation disc and a couple of minutes later, 1 fully functional printer.

I see some of the reveiws for this cable say it will not work. Well, I did some research before buying and came across quite a few forums and postings all saying the same thing. They all said that yes, this type of cable is available but warned that not every printer with a parallel connection will work with it. I bought this cable understanding that I may be disappointed but I'm not.

All I would like to add is, do your reasearch first, dont just buy it and then post negative reveiws because it did not work.
