5.0 out of 5 stars Geemarc Mayfair Two Piece Telephone Black 20 Mar 2009
By Dee
Colour Name:Black
I wanted a retro phone, and so I bought this Geemarc Mayfair Two Piece Black telephone....

... with authentic ring, either high/low bell, and either high/low or off ringer.
It looks the part, styled to look like a dialler, but actually push buttoned, including 'star' * and 'hash' # keys, recall & redial buttons, for modern requirements.

I'm delighted with it, it looks good, it sounds good, it does the job .... 10/10

2.0 out of 5 stars Plasticky 15 Dec 2010
Colour Name:Black
As you would expect for the price this is a fairly cheap piece of kit. It looks fine but it's very light - so light in fact when you pick up the receiver you quite often end up lifting the whole phone in to the air. It's also not particularly well made - within a week the cable to the receiver had separated itself from the main body. In fairness, however, Amazon replaced it very quickly and (6 weeks later) the replacement seems fine. Buy this for its looks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bargain for the price 25 Sep 2010
Colour Name:Black|Verified Purchase
Unfortunately this wasn't my first choice when it came to wanting a retro phone. The one I really wanted was this one Original GPO Rotary Dial 1970's Telephone - Traditional Black but it's not compatible with Virgin telephone lines.
As an alternative I decided on this model and i'm over the moon with it. I would have preferred to have a rotary dial instead of the push buttons, but that wasn't to be. In fairness it's only when you get close to it that you can really tell it's a push button phone.

It's ridiculously easy to set up. Plug in the telephone cable, plug in the handset... and you're up and running.
The sound quality is excellent, far better than the 2 year old phone this replaced.

My only minor gripe is that the phone is far too light, hence why i'm only giving it four stars. When using the phone, if you move away the cable doesn't stretch as one would expect, instead the phone slides across my table because there's too little weight in it. When I sit back in my chair I have to hold the phone so it doesn't slide off. There are some rubber dots on each corner but they don't stop the phone from sliding around.

For the price, you can't really go wrong with this phone. I'm happy with it :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Black trad style phone 11 July 2010

looks good, so far works well. Good loud ring. I would have scored it 5 stars, if the rubber feet underneath were the type that stopped it sliding across my wooden desk.

1.0 out of 5 stars All that glisters.......... 13 Jan 2010
Colour Name:Black
I bought this phone because it looked good and seemed very good value.
However, within a few months it had developed a loud intermittent buzz
making it unusable. We binned it eventually.
Can't recommend.

1.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE! 17 Dec 2009
By Mum-ra
Colour Name:Black
I purchased one of these telephones in August 2008, and whilst initially happy with it an intermittent fault developed after a year, and now 16 months later it has completely broken with none of the pushbuttons working. I telephoned Geemarc who basically said tough luck. It's not the first thing I've bought that has mysetriously stopped working soon after the warranty expires....... STEER CLEAR!

5.0 out of 5 stars 70's styling, 90's technology. 3 Sep 2009
By Humidor
Colour Name:Red
Simply put, if you are looking for a modern land line telephone that has the appearance and charm of a 70's telephone, then this is for you.

The Mayfair is extremely well styled to give it an authentic 70's look. It even has the carrying handle at the back. I bought the red model as it reminded me of 'hot lines' from 70's TV shows.

The Mayfair actually packs a bell inside it to give that authentic 'ring, ring' when you are called. It has recall and redial functions.

My only regret is that The Mayfair doesn't have a moving rotor dial as it uses push buttons ('*' and '#' are on the middle of the dial). Overall I think this is a great telephone for the price (I paid 29.88 including delivery).

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, cheap and tacky
Cheap plastic, and dark cream to almost yellow colour. Not good quality. Nice old fashioned ring, for which I give it one star.
