As I do a lot of travelling I wanted a small lightweight dock/speaker that would work with my iphone to play music in hotel rooms and I also could use as a music alarm clock. Unfortunately, however, the new gear4 feature of auto power save means that unless the dock is playing music it will automatically switch into power standby mode and does not re-activate unless you press a button. Consequently the iphone alarm switches on but the dock/speaker doesn't! Not much use at all then if you want to use it in this way.
As a consequence of the above I've given this 2 stars but the reality is that if I was only going to use the device to play music then I probably would have scored it 5 stars. The design is great and the sound more than acceptable for such a small portable dock/speaker.
Another very slight negative however is the neoprene case which is too tight and makes storing for transport a bit of a pain.
Contacted gear4 tech support to see if there is any way the auto power off could be deactivated but unfortunately it can't. Have suggested it's something they think about for future versions. Top marks though for speed of response from their tech support
It's slim and portable and the battery life was pretty decent, we had no problems docking iPhone's and iPod's with this and all worked well. Overall I can recommend for travelling, holidays or for the kids room at home, worth the price.
