5.0 out of 5 stars 9800GTX+ 18 May 2010
Slid it into the PCI-E x16 slot, screwed it into place, downloaded the drivers from Nvidia.co.uk and was enjoying a faster, smoother desktop and a much more vibrant and fluid Windows Media Centre. Has an HDMI outlet and plugs directly into an HD ready TV, played Arkham Asylum, Devil May Cry 2, Modern Warfare 2, World at War and all the other latest games in HD on maxed out settings 1920x1080 (max) on a 50-inch screen and experienced no lag or loss of image quality. Works fine with my 375w PSU but will need a 6-pin PCI supplementary connector. My Dell Dimension 9200 already had one but the 2x 4-pin to 1x 6-pin adapter is provided in the box. This does not have the facility to connect to your soundcard as far as I know so when you use an HDMI port with the TV you will need to use seperate speakers. The card is instantly recognized by the computer as it is described and in some ways the 2GB 9600GT in this series works smoother than this card, must be complements of the extra video memory and the fps gain is not THAT big compared to the 9600GT but it is definitely noticable and if you are limited by cash and your power supply, a good way to future-proof your PC would be to get this card because it's nearly at the top of the 9800-series and will serve all your needs unless you're a hardcore gamer who overclocks etc...

The fan is a great feature on this device, it keeps it cool - not that it heats up much anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Axle nVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX 20 Feb 2012
By Ben
I personally call this card the Big Friendly Giant. It's a huge card, both in specs (For the price) and dimensions! In fact, it was so big, one of the corners had to be filed down just to allow it to fit into the slot.

I left this review for a while so I could see how the card really performed. It's fantastic. I have played games ranging from Oblivion and Age Of Empires III to MW2, and without so much as a hitch running at full specs. It's certainly a powerful card, and has not failed to date (around a year since purchase). Obviously it's not in line with cards like the 560GTX or the 580GTX, but then you can pay up to double the price quite easily. In fact, the only thing hindering this card is the size - it is just too big, particularly if you're looking to add a secondary (though I don't THINK it's SLI compatible). Absolutely fantastic, and worth everything I paid for it a year ago!

1.0 out of 5 stars May be the greatest video card ever... 10 July 2010
By Arby
I wouldn't know since the design precludes being able to fit it into my computer - any of my computers in fact. The heat sink and fan are arranged so that the fan has to be completely removed in order to install the card, else it's blocked by the PCI slot next to the PCIE slot.

Of course I'm sure that the fan is just for show, right? It's not an integral part of the card or anything?
