Product Description

Product Description

Created as the antithesis of ‘musical journey’, CONTINVVM is mental and imaginary spaces in sound; created by London based artist and producer Gaudi with Sound-Therapist Antonio Testa. The organic sounds and colours of Antonio’s ethnic, recycled and homemade instruments and percussion, exist alongside and within Gaudi’s electronic creations and manipulations forming atmospheres in which the mind is left free to create. CONTINVVM is an auditory stimulation, a gateway to a self-determined co-ordinate in space time. CONTINVVM represents a fresh approach to an established musical genre, better classified ‘space-out’ than ‘chill-out’. It is a blank canvas for the mind with the sounds creating a stimulus for the listener to explore their own inner worlds; to experience an endless inner space or a series of spaces that exist without the anchor of linear time.

BBC Review

The em:t label was home to some of the finest in UK electronica in the 1990s before disappearing off the face of the earth. Now resurrected, their third release under new management unites ethnomusicologist, instrument builder and music-therapist Antonio Testa with the mysteriously named Gaudi.

It's a good combination; Testa's arsenal of exotic pipes, bells, drums and chimes thread their way through Gaudi's squelchy, languid electronica. Flutes and synths trace wispy half-melodies and grainy drones over the sounds of exotic birds and waterfalls; twisted but meaty dub rhythms emerge to shake the floor occasionally.

Fans of The Orb, FSOL et al will find much to keep them in a state of bliss here, though this isn't merely a trip down memory lane for the ambient generation. It's tougher, stranger and oddly timeless. Lovely stuff. --Peter Marsh

Format: Audio CD
Good World/Ambient vibes with a touch of abstract dance, slow starter but gets into a nice rhythm as it progresses. excellent production and feel but hardly a classic. Try Dub Qawwali for an edgier, richer sound!

P.S. Got my copy for under a tenner as of 5/01/2008, as will you if you look around.
