One can always tell when something is special if it can stand the test of time and Gatecrasher 'Wet' still sounds like a fresh, amazing piece of work. Other than the first track on CD1 the sound heard is very constant (not that track one is bad, its just a break rather than trance) and rarely does the mix ever sound bad or rushed. Never have I heard a dance compilation where each track seems born to go next to the one before. At first I was not sure whether each track was by the same artist. Ever since this record was released there has never been a dance CD that I look forward to listen to with the same passion and anticipation.

5.0 out of 5 stars The heavens are Wet 23 May 2006
Format:Audio CD
1999 was THE year for crasher, and it has to be said that their 3 albums from this year; Red, Wet and Disco-Tech are among the best dance comilations ever compiled. I thought nothing could top the stunning Red in its velvet case, but I could be wrong.
Crasher Wet captures some amazing character, just as Red did with its party, spiritual sounds. Except this this time round, the album does indeed have a Wet character. The clever use of 'ripple' style sounds in the rhythms really adds that summery, fresh feeling, and its totally consistant. Its one of those albums you would take with you if you were stranded on a desert island. Its hard to put it into words how this water effect is put into the mixing and music, you'll just have hear.
As ever, the album kicks-off with a break beat tune, or in this case 2 to set a mood. Phuture 2000 is a good song, and was simply destined to mix into Finished symphony, like toast and jam. Its one of the many moments in the album where you'll feel the hairs stand up on your kneck, because its so seamless.
The years big hit Saltwater is hear, and its even better. The mixing really brings out that unforgetable rhythm, and is perfect for the height of summer, it is without a doubt one the best summer club songs ever. The moment at which the track starts (with another almost water crashing effect) makes the hairs stand up once again, as that lovely rhtyhm graducally builds up. Syntheseasia follows the same route too, such a feel good tune - simple, yet very effective. Another of the years big hits, 9pm is here, and again remixed to sound less commercial thankfully. It does a good job too, sounding likle its being played underwater perhaps, but a nice change.
Cd2 starts with Apache, but not as we know it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Sky is the Limit For Gatecrasher 7 Nov 2000
Format:Audio CD
This is the best dance cd that I have ever heard. The choice of songs is impeccable, and it has some of the most professional mixing to date. For example, Hybrid's Finished Symphony and Carl Cox's Phuture 2000 share so many of the same suble harmonic elements, I wonder why I didn't think of mixing them myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've owned this album for over a decade.... 16 Nov 2012
Format:Audio CD
Yet, each time I listen to it, it takes me to a whole new level of appreciation!

I've been a massive fan of trance for many years. Going through many albums. Some good, some not so good and some that are simply breath taking.

This album is breath taking and then some! :)

A lot of people I know who have listened to this album or who own it, say that disc 1 is their favourite. But for me, disc 2 is the best mix ever put together (at least.... from all the mixes i'm aware of). It's so old school and you never want to skip a track. It maintains a steady stream of energy right from the start, all the way through to the end.

Uplifting/progressive trance at its very finest.

If you're new to the trance genre, get this album now! If you've been a fan as long as I have and you've never heard or owned this album, then hang your head in shame! :P

The first techno/trance CD I owned was Gatecrasher-Red. I had rarely been introduced to this type of dance music, but fell in love with it immediately. Songs like Lustral, off this album, really capture the wonderful things you can do when vocals are combined with this kind of music mix. It is not just the same beat repeating itself throughout the CD, it blends rythm and beat together so well you ponder how it was done. Each song seems to have its own original sound without changing the style of music. If you liked any of the other Gatecrasher CD's believe me you will fall in love with this one. If you are not familiar with this kind of music I guarantee this CD will pose an extraordinarily positive outlook from the moment you listen to it.
