After enjoying the first Resident Transmission until learning the tracks by heart, I had to put my hands on the number two! Once again the triple CD is mixed by the fine Gatecrasher residents: Scott Bond, Matt Hardwick and... hey, where's Eddie Halliwell?? Well, Eddie's sound is way harder to suit what we can call Gatecrasher sound, and I felt his mixed cd in the first Resident Transmission wasn't quite what he plays. But, in compensation, we have a third cd mixed back2back by Scotty and Matt... yes, it is good! The melodies, the grooves, the epic atmosphere we get at the Republic... all there in the 3 cds! Stronger, deeper and more intense that the first! The first cd, mixed by Scott, follows his style: begins melodic and proggy and gets harder. The second cd, mixed by Matt, is way better than the one in the first RT: melodic, euphoric, epic... you get goose bumps from the first second until the last! The last cd, mixed b2b by both, is very interesting: you can almost picture who is playing which track! Who liked the first RT MUST get this one at any cost! Thanks again Gatecrasher, keep up spreading the wonderful music you represent... pure trance from the heart!

Finally! My copy of Gatecrasher Resident Transmission 02 has arrived at my desk! Did it live up to the expectations placed upon it by the Gatecrasher logo on the front? Well I certainly think so!

The first CD, mixed by Scott Bond, begins with the airy vocal sound of 3rd Earth, but as the tracks progress the sound becomes a lot harder, with great track such as Marco V’s “Echoes” and Igor S’s “Boomerang”. I felt that the final Members of Mayday track was a little cheesy, but then you can’t have everything. This CD begins gently, exposing its harder tech-trance side as the mix in the second part of the mix.

Matt Hardwick’s second CD is more vocal and euphoric than the first featuring tracks from P.O.S., Oceanlab and Kansai. It is very similar in it’s feel to the CD two (mixed by Hardwick) of the first Resident Transmission, though the sound is a lot darker than the light and open landscapes drawn in the first Resident Transmission.

Disk three however is where this compilation really shone for me! Mixed by both Matt and Scott this CD oozes the Gatecrasher sound that so many of us got used to over the years! It is a superb blend of vocal and melodic tracks! Highlights include Motorcycle’s “As the rush comes” and Afterburn with its classy “Summer sun”.

All in all, even though the compilation does not have many tracks that really stand out, it is pure quality through and through! Buy it now!

I was a little unsure of what to expect from the second album in the residents series, but i was pleasantly surprised at the the tune selection. CD 1 mixed by Scott Bond is a little techy but contains the usual Scott Bond sound though he sounds much better and harder live. The cd is not full of hands in the air cheese like alot of compilations at the moment, but contains tunes that hardly anybody has heard before, the best tune on the disc is by far Igor S "Boomerang" its the kind of tune I've heard Picotto play.
The second cd mixed by Matt Hardwick is full of sinths and driving kick drums typical of his live sets, whats even better is the cd being a little harder than the last one he mixed, he starts with Goldenscan "Halcyon" which has a fantastic opening vocal segment again typical of his live sets, to Kanai "Remember This Night" which is a full on peak time track with a great vocal.
The third cd is a B2B cd which combines both styles of trance, again the cd does nothing but justice to a peak time live set in the main room, opening with Motorcycle "As The Rush Comes In" a great vocal track, to Smith & Pledger "In To Deep" which is in my view the best track on the disc. The album gives Gatecrasher virgins a taste of all things banging !!! Enjoy
