Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Sheffield superclub Gatecrasher has long been a byword for quality, its name synonymous with energetic mix CDs that consistently bring trance to the masses. Now, in an act of unbridled generosity, Gatecrasher Experience reveals three different sides of the club's personality. CD1, "The Science", features a number of exclusive tracks, including classics remixed for a new generation. Most interesting of these is the unlikely reworking of Sinead O'Connor's "Troy" from producer of the moment, Push, plus a great version of The Police's 1970s hit, "Message In Bottle". Less poppy perhaps, CD2, "The Power" unleashes the harder side of the Gatecrasher sound and features clubland rockets such as Nu-NRG's "Dreamland", John 00 Fleming's breathtaking "Nazerian" and Maurio Piccotto's relentless trance anthem, "Bangkok". After all that exertion it seems only fitting that CD3, "The Karma", should round things off in more relaxing style. Here you'll find lush, ambient versions of Evoke's haunting "Arms Of Lauren", Arcadia's "Blind Visions" and 'Crasher classic, "The Eternal" from Jose Amnesia. Bed, breakfast and evening meal then--not a bad package when all said and done. --Paul Tierney

Too many people are complaining about the superclubs going commercial. What with the declining quality Ministry of Sound's Annual CDs and Creams mainstream offering, it's difficult to actually find a track that you'd actually hear if you stepped inside the actual club!

So it's a good job Gatecrasher still know what their public want. I'll write this review in 3 parts.

CD1 - The Science
Fantastic tracklist and a great way to start off the Triple-CD set. The pace is set with the opening track, State of Mind - All Because of You (Sunday Club Remix) and never slows down. By the time Yahel - Massive Control came in I was already grinning like an idiot, then along comes Arakis - Aira Force and blows me away. The Push remix of Sinead O'Conner - Troy leads the way into the second half of the CD and from that point on I was dancing in my seat all the way through Petwert - Symphonic, Rank1 - Awakening until Marco V - Godd exploded out of the speakers and marked the end.

CD2 - The Power
The second CD is a bit disappointing. I was expecting something a lot harder with tracks like Mauro Picotto - Bangkok and the DJ Scott Project Rmx of Brooklyn Bounce - Club Bizarre on the tracklist. The CD starts off wonderfully with Hemstock & Jennings - The Nazaren but doesn't really begin to pick up the pace until Kai Tracid - Life Is Too Short, which leaves the impression that half a CD's been wasted. I get the feeling the first half of this CD are tracks they wanted to have on CD1 but couldn't fit. Nonetheless it's still a fantastic CD, just that after the Meltdown CD from Digital I was hoping for more of the same.

CD3 - The Karma
Chillout CD's are ten a penny these days and I'm still not convinced that Gatecrashers decision to include one in their last two compilations isn't just an attempt to cash in on the current craze. As ambient CD's go it's not bad at all, and it's a great improvment on Digital's Chillout disc. But it's nothing that wasn't done better with Chilled Euphoria (mixed by Solar Stone).

All in all it looks like I'm being a bit negative but that's not the case at all. The first CD is amazing and although CD2 wasn't what I was expecting it's a great listen. It's brilliently compiled and mixed by Gatecrasher resident Scott Bond and does a great job of showcasing the sound of the club. Definetly a glimpse towards the future of Trance.

well well, what an amazing album by the club that sets all standards by which others follow. With 3 cds like 'digital' you know you are getting value for money. However it is the sheer quality on offer that makes this a must for not only fans of gatecrashers' music, but dance fans in general. The music offered by this cd is relentless in its sheer class. You have a selection of moods with each cd, banging house tunes mixed with some progressive trance. What makes this cd stand out is its seemless mixing with the mamoth tune of dj teisto's 'urban train' taking us out of cd2 with applom. You then have the beautiful sounds of chilled music on cd3 with the angelic marcella woods on vocals on track 3. Buy this album if you are a fan of dance music, there is not a single weak track and i guarantee these cds will stay in your system right throughout the year. This is definately tommorows music today, fantastic!

Yet again the Gatecrasher series goes from strength to strength.

Firstly, the newly formatted idea of starting the trilogy off slow but sweet, taking you up to a tremendous high (with the newest tunes from innovative producers such as "Marco V") and then letting you cool off with chilled breaks such as Evoke's "Arms of Loren" remix emulates an entirely perfect clubbers night out. In-fact it almost feels like "Casey the 'Crasher Kid" has just slapped on a dictaphone and recorded the best from an all nighter at The Republic only the quality is first rate.

Secondly, the Gatecrasher family keep two steps ahead of the rest (as expected) with nearly every track coming as an exclusive on this album bettering any trance album out at the moment and re-proving they're status as the masters of the hard-trance scene. This album also complements the digital takeover that has quickly swept the nation with tracks such as "Hablando" and Rank 1's "Awakening" tickling every hair in your inner ear with its wide sweeping chords and crisp kicks.

And lastly,if you love the Republic in Sheffield on a Saturday night then this really is for you and if you don't then you should still give this album a listen as it is sure to re-align your sensory perception and change the way you interperet the trance world forever.
