DVD Description
Hiya! Well this is it, the DVD o’ series 1. If you've no seen it, it’s basically all aboot me (Gary Tank Commander) and ma boys Jacko, Charlie & Adam and what we get up tae when we're no oot and aboot Iraq-side. Liiiiiiike.....accidentally recruitin' Jacko's wee sister (Julie) for the forces (oops) and meetin’ General Randy Badger, a mental American that caused pure madness and mayhem when he came tae check oot his roots (no as in his hair). Pickin’ up a cooker for ma da wis a laugh as well, and when the fire brigade threw a benny, we hud tae step in and save the day. Anyhoo, check oot ma thoughts on the world as I pure see it, check oot the madness wi’ ma boys and watch oot for the radges that are Sergeant Thomson, Captain Fanshaw, and ma Dad (sorry Dad you're no a radge, only sometimes) and many others!!!
Gary McLintoch (Greg McHugh) is a Tank Commander in the British Army who loves getting a sun tan, drinking Baileys and philosophising about everything from pizza to the peace process. Having just returned to Edinburgh from Iraq, Gary and his tank crew of Jacko (Robbie Jack), Charlie (Scott Fletcher) and Adam (Paul-James Corrigan), are soon reminded that Mid Lothian can be almost as eventful as the Mid East.
Series 1 sees Gary accidentally recruiting his friend Julie (Leah MacRae), using a tank to collect a cooker in the middle of a training exercise and trying to prevent an American General from causing an international incident. All this is made more difficult as Gary and the boys have to stay one step ahead of the Captain (Miles Jupp) and the fiery Sergeant Thomson (Stuart Bowman), who delights in punishing them in cruel and unusual ways.
Containing flashback footage of the boys in Iraq, as well as monologues where Gary offers his upbeat and often surreal thoughts on the wider world,
Gary: Tank Commander is a fresh & funny sitcom about a new kind of comedy hero.
Written by Greg McHugh. Directed by Iain Davidson. Producer Rab Christie.
Also featuring Kevin Bridges, Callum Cuthbertson, Stuart Milligan, Victoria Balnaves, David Kay and David Reed.
