I buy a lot of albums on a whim and off of the strength of "Wonderful" this seemed a sensible purchase, and indeed, it is - a little too much so. The musicianship and production is excellent. The whole thing, however, basically falls short of high expectations. It comes across as "Coldplay Lite" - If you buy Coldplay albums and only listen to the singles, or if you've played Wonderful 20 times over on your ipod, then this is the album for you. Each song is basically another version of "Wonderful" as lyrical and musical cliché after cliché gets piled on top of the other. You could fall asleep, wake up 15 minutes later and think you are on the same song. That said, I don't like Coldplay and this record is quite a jolly listen along for those days you're not feeling that adventurous, or when you've the sort of friends over who drink Gallo wines. If you are looking for a safe buy, then buy this, if you want to hear more variety, and great tunes and songs done well by a real troubador, then spend your money on Teddy Thompson's "A Piece of What You Need".
