Astonishing live double from aspiring American blues talent. Clearly establishes him as one of the great and probably to the leading bluesman of his generation.

If you liked Gary Clark Jr.'s previous records then you should like this new disc that features extended live workouts of many of the tracks from these records plus a few blues classics like the opener "Catfish blues","Three o'clock blues" and "When the sun goes down". It's more bluesy and rocky than 'Blak and Blu' which seemed to be veering more towards modern R&B, there are still elements of that on tracks like "Blak and blu" and "Please come home" but Gary's raw blues guitar pulls them back and he really seems to be in his element playing live. My favourite track was probably the great rocking version of the wonderful track "Don't owe you a thang".

This a a cd to buy if you have never heard anything by Gary Clarke Jnr. One of the new wave of blues guitarists, a real talent who is going to be around for a long time. Excellent guitar work, great tunes.

I really couldn't wait to hear this after reading so many fantastic reviews. However, having listened to it at least 6 times, I can only assume that those reviewers have yet to listen to Page, Beck, Kossoff, Jimi etc or even the likes of Bonnamassa and Danny Bryant. Technically superb, of course, but as boring as watching paint dry. A massive disappointment.

Took a few listens for this album to go from 3 stars to 5. Awesome tone from a guitar, unique take on the blues.
