Great Fun 3 April 2011
Another Garro audio-book is out and for me this was even better then the first one. The voice acting is great and so is the sound effects every sound from the space marines hulking figures crunching into the ground to bolter-fire gives of an authentic feel and makes you feel you're there (yeah I know it sounds like a cliche).

The plot is good and the characters are well made, you have the stoic ultramarine Rubio and the very "passionate" world eater Varren and then Garro, a Legend in the making?

I loved the ending though the only tiny regret is that I expected it all along right from the start.

This is all in all a good production from the Black Library, James Swallow and anyone else involved.

Cheers

In a world full of chaos where at times, it feels that every spare second is accounted and that you have next to no free time then you know it's time to get an audio book. After all you can always squeeze it in on the drive to work, during your lunch hour or even whilst taking public transport or household chores. It's a great way to enjoy a title without having to stay still. Of all the audio books out there, the ones that tend to give me the most pleasure are the ones from the Black Library as they've hired top vocal talent, have dark gritty tales and when blended with background music and sound effects they take me away to another place.

This title, a story by James Swallow, takes us back to the Horus Heresy where Garro is seeking a select few chosen ones for a mission that even he has no idea about the importance. It's beautifully told, the combat stunning and with a great plot line the reader will be highly entertained. All in a lot of fun for me and something that clearly demonstrates that the medium is often underused.

What a ride! 29 April 2011
By Mr Kent
When it comes to audio shorts like this, you expect nothing major to happen and expect it to be self contained as most people will not bother with the audio books and just stick to the novels. This blew that out of the water, a great story with great characters, but gives the heresy as a whole a major development that will have a massive impact on the future of the series. Brilliant.
