4.0 out of 5 stars Great training aid 16 May 2010
    Style Name:Women
The Garmin Forerunner 110 is a great training aid for your outdoor runs. It doesn't have custom screens so you can just see distance, time and average pace and you can scroll through to see heart rate as well. It doesn't have the feature to set interval targets or heart rate zones, or pace alarms, but let's be honest - unless you are training for the next olympics, do you really need all that!

You can upload all the data to Garmin Connect and you can see a map of your run through the Google maps interface and you can look at your heart rate and pace along the length of your run. You can set an autolap so that the Forerunner records data every mile, for instance and for most runners this is surely enough.

It's really easy to use and perfect for anyone who wants an automatic record of their runs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does what it should but a bit expensive 12 July 2010

I am returning to recreational running after a break of a few years and thought I'd get some technical assistance. This device will; record heart rate and distance travelled and so help me stay in 'the zone' and make sure that I don't increase too much each week.

I've used traditional GPS in the past (Garmin 12XL) and this device keeps a lock on satellites far better. It really does work with medium tree cover. The heart rate monitor works fine and it all worked straight out of the box. Even the online database works with my Mac. I don't really like Garmin being responsible for my data but the web application is neat and well linked into Google Maps.

Each time I've been out I've washed the watch under the tap and no problem with a lack of waterproofing yet.

Overall it does what I thought it would. It makes sense to me that it doesn't give current pace as that can waver with GPS - averaged over a km is fine with me. The worst thing is the price. I do feel it is over priced for a device with few bells and whistles - it is deliberately simple to use but could have training zones etc etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars fab, really good motivator 16 April 2011
    Style Name:Women|Amazon Verified Purchase
Being a non runner (read no exercise what so ever) and training for a Marathon I needed/wanted some sort of motivation to help me. I had no idea where to start with GPS style watches or even what I was looking for. I LOVE this watch, it lets me see at a glance if I need to slow down (as if) or speed up. It is very easy to use, I am techno twit and managed to load the software and down load my runs yes runs. The garmin connect software is fab, you can set goals such as burn X calories or run X miles.
This watch is very comfy to wear. I opted for the one with the heart rate monitor and if I am honest save your self some pennies and don't bother with this 'extra' unless you want to see how fast your heart was going at certain stages of the run. It is useful but I wouldn't wear it on every run.

I have very small wrists and despite this being smaller and desiged for woman I still found it bulky and wouldn't wear it as any everyday watch.

I really wish I had bought this at the beginning of my training as it has been a huge help/motivator.

    Highly recommend

Instructions provided with the watch do not fully explain how to get each function to work. I have had problems to get to "Search Satellite"
