775T - well worth it for the bells & whistles if you are willing to pay a premium price, 10 May 2009
This review is from: Garmin Nuvi 775 Traffic Satellite Navigation System with UK, Full Europe and North American Mapping (Electronics)
My second Garmin unit (good experience with Nuvi 360 but wife is using it all the time). Enticed by extra features of the 775T. Deliberated for some time in case not worth the expense or in case I don't use these features.
Delighted with the 775T. Extra features are v useful (including ones I thought I wouldn't use). Pleasure to use - I even switch it on in familiar territory (traffic, last-minute short cuts, searching points of interest, as well as traffic camera / speed limit reminders). However, I'd suggest settling for an award-winning cheaper model if you're just keen to use GPS to get from A to B).
Dislikes:
- expensive, but you get what you pay for and I've certainly used extra features more than originally anticipated
- no case included (grrr)
- my previous Nuvi had (?unintended) advantage that the aerial could slot into an air vent allowing quick mounting and easy use in multiple vehicles without lugging the suction cup assembly; this unit doesn't have an aerial on a hinge (but no great loss and less to break
- swivel arm, if mounted on dashboard, doesn't quite point horizontally or below the horizontal (minor irritation - lucky I'm not too short)
- small font size of pop-up camera warnings (not a problem once used to device)
Particular likes - see feature list to see what may appeal for intended use but the following have been particularly useful or noteworthy and not necessarily what I thought needed the device for before purchase:
- Sleek and portable (despite large widescreen) and fits in pocket so great for navigation on foot, by bike, though not waterproof - International coverage
- Lane assist, road names, complex junction overviews and 3D building views (esp in busy cities) far more useful than anticipated
- Points of interest better than old device
- Good Bluetooth phone link
- FM transmitter & traffic info
- Noises and alarms less annoying than my previous GPS
- Extra features and portability not just gimmicks that I don't use

A good piece of kit, 25 Aug 2009
This review is from: Garmin Nuvi 775 Traffic Satellite Navigation System with UK, Full Europe and North American Mapping (Electronics)
Have had this unit now for a couple of months now and have used it in the UK, Europe and the USA. I found it very easy to use, probably because this is the 2nd Garmin Sat Nav I have owned, but it is interesting to note the improvements to the device over my previous Nuvi 660. The speed that it picks up the sattelite signal has been significantly improved over the old one, and the recalculation time is also very fast. Screen redraws have also been improved, though the detail shown scales down far quicker than on the old one (maybe a setting for that).
On the downside the traffic is now a paid for extra, but it seems to have better speed camera info than the old one.
So not quite 5 star, but a 4.5 star certainly. Very good value vs the Garmin Live, which is a great system but only worthwhile if you are a true road warrior.

Garmin Nuvi 775T - Great product, money well spent, 10 Jun 2009
This review is from: Garmin Nuvi 775 Traffic Satellite Navigation System with UK, Full Europe and North American Mapping (Electronics)
Had this Nuvi for 2 weeks now, no problems I can think of, everything works as intended. Very reliable, no freezes or restarts, absolutely no hiccups so far. Bluetooth handsfree works fine, make sure your mobile is supported. Arrived with latest software and maps installed. Can't wait to test it in mainland Europe in a couple of months. Only thing I miss for the price is a carrying case. A great little satnav, you definitely get what you pay for. Overall very happy with it. Recommended.
