I bought the StreetPilot 330 for my wife as she cannot read maps, but I find myself using it as often as she, especialy when I'm looking for a particular address in a part of a town I'm not familiar with, or when I'm coming home from a long journey late at night, and know a direct line through a certain town would be the quickest. Just a couple of the many. Thank you Garmin. You save us hours each week.

Be sure to use the inexpensive extra antenna that can be purchased.,

We have had one of these for about 10 months, and the only frustrating thing has been that it can be very slow to find the satellites, and then it can lose contact with the satellites when you are in a city with tall buildings. Other than that VERY frustrating problem, it has performed well in Denmark, and Germany, and England.
I finally bought an inexpensive extra antenna that is compatible with this Garmin, and the Garmin now finds the satellites quickly (also in the location that has always been a probem - right in front of our house!), and it now hasn't lost contact with the satellites on the street in Copenhagen where it usually does lose contact. The extra antenna is just put on the inside of the front windshield, and then removed when you are through using the Garmin. Very irritating that the technical support didn't mention the possibility of using an external antenna - they just kept telling me that it can take up to 3 minutes to find satellites, and that tall builings in Copenhagen can interfere with connection to the satellites. I have suggested that they tell customers about the extra antenna.

It works but you can do better,

I bought this about a year ago and it works just fine, but there are a few things that would prevent me from choosing this model again:-
- If another GPS user gives you the co-ordinates (lat, long) for a waypoint you cannot enter them directly into the unit. Instead you have to enter them on your (Windows-only) PC and then transfer the waypoint via the usb cable. Very long-winded and a bit of pain, especially as I use Linux and Macintosh computers. - I found it difficult to get a signal in my car, so had to buy the external magnetic antenna. I later found this was due to the gold-coloured coating on my car windows, because I can pick up a good signal in other peoples' vehicles. - There is much better value out on the market today, including Garmin's own Nuvi range. My Sister-In-Law has one of these. For not much more money you get a smaller unit that is designed to be taken with you when you leave your car and be used as an around town guidebook. You get travel guides in it, you can order language translators, and best of all the Nuvi doubles as an in-car Bluetooth handsfree kit for your mobile phone, even displaying your mobile's address book on the GPS unit's screen, enabling you to make and receive calls without taking the phone out of your pocket -- very cool. So, the C330 does it's job and it does it well, but it's not the best buy out there.
