Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Monitor your pedalling cadence as you ride with this self-calibrating, wireless speed/cadence sensor. It measures and reports your pedalling strokes per minute, providing feedback for optimal performance.

This lightweight and easy-to-fit sensor quickly and easily connects to your compatible Garmin device. You don’t have to take it to your bike shop for installation – simply do it yourself.

Cadence data will tell you exactly what your pedalling strokes are per minute at any point – and using it with a Garmin compatible device will allow you to see how your cadence changes over different terrain and points in your ride. This is an invaluable tool if you want to improve your overall performance, whether you want to ride further, increase your speed or improve your endurance.

The ANT+ technology means the data from the sensor wirelessly connects to your Garmin device, making it easy to set up and use. It works with the GPS in your Garmin Edge or Garmin Forerunner to calibrate automatically, and its batteries are replaceable with a standard CR2032 watch battery.

The sensor also includes a rear-wheel mounted speed sensor which allows you to capture speed, distance and cadence data while turbo training indoors. This is also extremely useful if you lose your GPS fix, e.g. while riding through a tunnel where the cadence/speed sensor will still be capturing and recording your speed and distance data.

The sensor is designed to work with most bike frames and wheels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the Job 23 Mar 2008
I bought this item to enhance my taining and to link to my Garmin Edge. Having read other reviews I am pleased to report that the unit does exactly what it is supposed to. Linking to the Edge was simple; when setting up the LEDs were clearly visible indoors (although I did ask my partner to tell me which was red and wich was green and I am colour blind!!).

Using the system outdoors is fine and I can log cadence which is a great benefit.

Indoors is a whole different experience now. I use a mag trainer (Cycle Ops) and with the cadence sensor plus the Edge I can monitor and record cadence and speed (due to the wheel sensor being on the rear wheel). The Edge senses the constant GPS location and offers the option of turning off the GPS (a clever feature). Add to this the heart rate and what more do you need for training purposes.

All in all, a great complement to the Egde and a super training aid.

4.0 out of 5 stars But beware of water! 5 Sep 2009
By Scott
This is a great device that adds valuable information to my Edge 305, but beware when washing your bike. It can stand the light water spray from a wet road, but I'd suggest covering it with a small plastic bag whenever it's likely to come in contact with more water. This is my second device and after reading lots of other reviews it seems like this is a common problem.

Product does exactly want I wanted, training for Triathlons and wanted to keep my cadence up when cycling. Didn't want another gadget for my bike and this works well with my Garmin Forerunner 405 which is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Feel the cadence
I had one of these with my 705 but it broke after a couple of years - this was the cheapest I could find and is genuine Garmin so can use my turbo again (is that a good thing???)
