The software is well featured, works well, does everything I would expect a dedicated unit to do and there are no features missing that I can see. On the Nokia N95 it is easy to install, setup and use and is intuitive to navigate with. It Automatically recalculates routs if you take a different turning and will guide you round traffic holdups on the fly as you should be able to with all satnav devices. The online (traffic and weather) services are free, which is great. The map automatically zooms out when driving on the motorway so you can gain a perspective of the whole journey, but this feature can be switched off if you don't like it. It will also automatically change from 'day' to 'night' colours at dusk, but again, this feature can be switched off and you can do it manually.

One downside is that you cannot copy the software onto a larger memory card. If you use your device for music and video then you will need to swap memory cards around. As they are small and easily lost, this is less than ideal. This is the reason why it gets 4 instead of 5 stars.

All in all, this is a piece of software that does exactly what it says on the tin and does it well, but with quite invasive and limiting copy protection.

As mentioned in other reviews, this is a well polished piece of 3rd party GPS software - it does everything you would expect to see from a standalone unit. Once you get it working, it means no additional charges for turn-by-turn SatNav unlike the Nokia maps service that comes with the phone. Brilliant.

When I was deciding whether to go for GXT, I discovered the 5800 is not on the main supported phones list. Don't let that deter you, because the 5800 it is listed as compatible on the update web page for the GXT. However I wasn't surprised that the micro SD card didn't work straight out of the box, the software does need updating (free download) so that it is compatible with the new Symbian OS.

Also, GXT is shipped on a 1Gb micro SD card, not great if you want to use the 5800 for music & data files etc. Fortunately it is possible to move GXT onto a higher capacity card, to save you carrying/swapping the fiddly little things, with the aid of tutorials found on the internet.

In summary, slightly frustrating to set up, but once it's done works a treat.

To confirm other reviews, this application runs faultlessly on the Samsung Omnia. I spent some time looking for a satnav application, then found Garmin XT V4 on carphonewharehouse.co.uk so bought it. I have upgraded to v5 and it is an improvement over v4 in terms of the graphics. My only bug-bear is the fact that it uses an abc keyboard. Every other keyboard I use is qwerty! This makes inputting addresses slow, as my brain is well trained to qwerty. For this reason I rate it 4 stars.

Previously, I had tomtom nav6 on a Mio PDA. I think Garmin is better at showing directions, I really like how it switches to a plan view when approaching a roundabout - very clear where my turn off is. On the Omnia I get full satellite lock in about 5 seconds, compared to 40-50 seconds on the PDA.

Overall, a great addition to any GPS smartphone. Shame about the abc keyboard - doesn't everyone use qwerty?
