Wanted this toolset to change the battery on my Garmin SATNA and had a few issues regarding the lack of strength of the plastic spatula which broke an edge whilst attempting to split the case.
The worst part was that the final two screws holding the pcb that required removal in order to get to the battery were just too tight causing damage to the screwdriver head and spinning of the shaft in the handle.
I had 3 attempts over a 2 week period reassembling after each attempt and at the end gave up as spatula and screw heads were too badly damaged.
I think it would be an ok set and get a 5 star result if the screws hadn.t been so tight.

This tool kit is great value for money if your anticipated use is for DIY purposes. If you were using it semi professionally or more, it would be better to buy higher quality tools. In my case the battery & tools from Amazon were 50% less than the cost of the battery form normal sources.

One little tip would be that you should maintain constant firm pressure between the tool and the screws to ensure that there is no possibility of rounding off the sharp profile of the tool. Due to the lower quality of the tools this could happen if careless, so be careful! As I first said, this kit is great value for money for DIY use.

I saw the video and, liking a bit of 'tinkering' thought I would change my Garmin's battery. I did, but only at the expense of damaging the speaker output jack, so that the on-board speaker no longer works. (See related Replacement battery for Garmin) review. The 'swap' seemed a lot more fiddly than depicted in the YouTube video I saw that convinced me this was 'doable'. I am left wondering it the video was done by the exact same people I bought either the battery or tool kit from.

Garmin battery screws were in so tight that the tools were useless; blue case opener broke straight away. Cheap but not FFP

I changed the battery in my Garmin Nuvi 1490 today. Would just like to echo what many others have said about the plastic case-removal tool. It simply is not strong enough and I broke both ends in the process. Managed to carefully pry off the casing using one of the small screwdrivers but could do with a stronger plastic tool. Otherwise it's straight forward using the YouTube video online.

I just started dismantling the Garmin and initially the prising off tool fell apart, not strong enough, but managed to take off outer strip, having strong fingernails. The first screwdriver required for the next operation to remove the four screws was useless, the handle turned but the shaft remained stationary so screws could not be removed, so completely useless argh!!!!!

The plastic tool for removing the cover to get to the screws broke both ends, did however succeed in getting the cover off, the screwdrivers However are good and work ok, I managed to change the battery in my sat nav, they need to redesign the plastic tool and make it stronger, but what do you expect for the price...

The plastic lever is very clever. A metal lever would have scratched the GPS unit.
One smaller Torx screw driver is included (probably a T3 or T4) although not mentioned on the product page (T5, T6, and T8). I am able to open up my Garmin GPS unit and replaced the battery in first attempt. Recommended.
