My wife purchased this device almost 2 years ago as she found her previous handheld GPS device too detailed and a nuisance out on the course. The S2 was purchased in preference to the even simpler S1 mainly because of it's worldwide coverage and we have used it in Europe and very recently in the US where it instantly located and loaded 12 of the 13 different courses we played - the exception being a course which had only been opened for play for less than 3 months. In terms of accuracy, according to my Bushnell and Nikon course rating lasers, it is more consistent than either of our 2 previous handheld GPS devices (a SkyCadddie S5 and a Callaway UPRO).
I am so impressed with it - not least because it is instantly accessible on my wrist leaving me both hands free - that I have started to borrow it when going out to rate courses for Scratch Score purposes. Borrowing it is not however a popular practice - so I think it might be forced to invest in one for myself as that would be much cheaper than risking a divorce. Issues ? none - including battery life which has never been a problem even when it was used almost every day for a month in the US where rounds approaching 5 hours were not that unusual !

I bought the S2 when the strap snapped on my S1 purely for the reason you can replace the strap on the S2 but not the S1 - unless you send it to Garmin - & they charge over £60 to do it !!! I like to know the distance to the Green & i like to measure my shots from time to time , the S2 has the added bonus of distance to doglegs & other lay ups , plus you can enter your score & even download & print but not sure i'll bother with that - i still prefer an old fashioned scorecard ! The design looks very smart , it's very light & the display is very clear & quite large , it's very easy to use & i wouldn't want to play golf without one - it's helped me win the Grand Prix at my club along with quite a few nearest the pins , the Medals & the Handicap plate in the Club Championship in 2014 , it's expensive but i think it's worth it , i used to use a range finder but lost a Nikon one when it was clipped to my bag - £250 one that i only had for a month ! No one ever handed it in - not all golfers are honest :( so for me the Garmin golf watch is a Gem :)

Once you get used to setting it up, it is very easy to use. I live in Cyprus and it has all the courses already downloaded. It automatically changes to the next hole when you walk to the tee. You walk up to your ball, glance at the watch, and you instantly have the distance to the front, middle and back of the green. You can set it to show yards or meters. A real boon for golfers.

I bought this watch as an 'upgrade' to my original range finder, fed up paying the yearly costs.
Very clear display and an easy to use interface. Simple operation whilst you are on the course, automatically changing from hole to hole whilst you progress around the course and if you find yourself offline, just make sure the distances displayed still show the hole you are supposed to be playing because sometimes the watch believes you have moved to a different hole ... or is that just me and my wayward shots !
I love the fact that you can buy extra straps for this watch, whether you are a fashion freak or, like me, expect the strap to eventually split .. but I suppose I should be more careful, (wife's exact words!).
Connecting to your computer to update software/courses couldn't be simpler with the supplied connector - although registering with GARMIN and downloading their software does take 10 - 20 minutes or so. Out and about I've found that it takes between 1 and 2 minutes to 'lock onto' the satellite signal, but appears to get quicker if you are regularly playing the same course.
I was originally a little worried if I would 'notice' it on my wrist as I never have played golf previously with a watch on, but the GARMIN is so light that you sometimes forget it's there, until you remember you need a yardage!
So as you can gather from the above I would recommend this product to all ... a great addition to anyone's golfing gadgets ! Get one and get out on those fairways.

Have only used it a couple of times as the weather is so bad have not been able to play much golf but the times I have played it will definitely be an asset to my game.In the time I have had the watch have only had to charge up once as the watch has not been used for golf much so looking forward to using it when the weather picks up.

At the moment it is proving to be a very good golf watch. It can actually load up my local course from the comfort of my armchair,
and i live four Kms away...Garmin Approach S2 is well worth what you pay, and it does exactly what it states.

I had the s1before this and was happy till the face started steaming up, after only a few weeks the new s2 has a very small condensation mark in the face which disappears after a few minutes. So not very happy at the moment, will keep my eye on it for a while, maybe it's a design fault.
