Know the way
With detailed maps providing turn-by-turn directions that call out streets by name, the nüvi 465TF provides specialised routing to support truck-related restrictions (customizsable by height, weight, length, width and hazardous materials). Simply enter dimensions and load restrictions and nüvi 465T guides you according to your requirements. You can even enter multiple-point routing so that you can take a more efficient route between multiple stops along your trip.

Garmin Nuvi 465,

For a general purpose SatNav the item is very good value for money. Routing and traffic work well and directions are clear. I find the software navigation harder to use than TomTom, but it is considerably cheaper than a TomTom and has traffic for life without subscription so is a small price to pay.
As a 'truckers' satnav I have one comment - Use with caution! It knows most of the weight / height restrictions but its routing still isn't the best. It has tried to take me the wrong way through one way 7.5tonne limits, down single track roads and around junctions that a long wheel base van wouldn't make. When you compare the satnav map to a paper map its clear that there is an easier, safer and more direct route so the mapping obviously needs a little more detail to be truly effective for a trucker. It also doesn't compensate for the lower speeds of a lorry so the estimated time of arrival is of little use. Postcode navigate could do with improvement for truckers too, it always wants a postcode and house number, however if your delivering 20 tonnes of goods your generally heading for a commercial premesis without a house number. The device comes with a sticky pad mount which is no use if you drive more than one vehicle, or infact for any vehicle dash i tried to stick it too as none are flat, so buy the suction cup mount too. In summary its handy to avoid congestion or for going straight to an address in built up areas but if your venturing away from the beaten track check your map as well.

BOUGHT THIS THINKING IT WOULD BETTER THAN MY SNOOPER BUT WHAT A SHOCK THE SAFETY CAMERAS ARE SET FOR CARS AND NOT TRUCKS COULD BE A DISSASTER OR EVEN YOUR JOB IF YOU TAKE NOTICE OF THESE.
SAT NAV SEEMS TO BE GOOD ON ROUTES KEEPS YOU TO MAIN ROADS WARNING FOR NONE L.G,V ROADS AND WEIGHT LIMITS ARE GOOD BUT NONE OF THESE APPEAR ON MAP WHEN BROWSING BUT POP UPS APPEAR WHEN NAVIGATING IF THEY GET CAMERAS RIGHT IT SHOULD BE GOOD???? BUT GARMINS AFTER SALES LET THEM DOWN TOOK THEM A LONG TIME TO REPLY TO MY EMAILS GUESS WHAT THEY HAD A LOT OF EMAILS STILL AWAITING OUT COME.

POOR QUALITY,

Truckmate...? I should have paid half the price and used my brain instead. Sure it has the bridges and width restrictions but with a bit of common sense and open eyes these are easy to avoid. All the other so called advantages to HGV drivers from this machine have turned out to be very annoying distractions. For example if your vehicle weight is entered as above 7.5 tonnes the machine will block many many routes because most roads in UK are barred to 7.5 tonnes (except for access), there is a constant barrage of warning screens flashing up and hiding the route so I ended up setting the vehicle weight to 7.5 tonnes avoiding these warning screens. Most of the traffic hotspots turned out to be not nearly as bad as the warning so again I learned to ignore them.... again I had to figure out turning off "rerouting" due to traffic delays....lots more unnecessary features. Don't buy this if you think it'll help your trucking...yes to a minor degree. Far easier with simple machine and common sense. Worse for me this machine failed twice but Amazon are refunding.
