It comes with preloaded mapping for UK and Ireland and its text to speech function speaks upcoming street names and places for extra route awareness, letting you keep your eyes on the road, not on the sat nav. Premium lifetime traffic avoidance alerts you to traffic delays and roadworks on your planned journey and finds a route around. Lane Assist with PhotoReal™ junction view shows the correct lane choice for upcoming junctions and motorway exits with accurate landscape detail and road signs. nüRoute™ myTrends™ technology learns your driving habits and recognises your favourite destinations to predict where you're going based on the time of day and your location. These advanced routing capabilities save time otherwise spent manually activating a route on a repeat journey and refine route planning based on your previous travel experiences and past route conditions.
nüvi 2300LT comes with the unique Cyclops™ safety camera warning system built in, giving real-time, reliable and accurate alerts, overspeed warning and speed limit information as you approach one of hundreds of fixed, mobile, variable limit and temporary safety cameras. nüvi 2300LT also enables you to correct and update road speeds with speed limit reporting and share with other drivers via USB.
Multi-route preview shows available routes on the map for visual comparison before you select your preferred journey and the ecoRoute™ fuel-saver feature helps you save money and fuel and reduce your carbon footprint with the option to follow the ‘less fuel’ route to your destination. ecoRoute also helps you to develop more efficient driving habits, calculates trip cost and enables accurate expense reporting.
Experience complete door-to-door navigation with nüvi 2300LT’s pedestrian navigation capabilities. Purchase optional cityXplorer mapping for directions for places you wouldn't be accessing while in your car including footpaths and shortcuts through parks. It also tells you where to catch trains, buses and tubes (dependent on the city) and how long it will take you to reach your destination. cityXplorer even contains public transport timetables to ensure you arrive at the station on time and avoid delays and long waits (dependent on the city). When continuing the journey on foot, nüvi 2300LT uses Park Position Recall to automatically mark and help you navigate back to the place you park – ideal when leaving your vehicle on an unfamiliar road or busy retail complex.
The Where am I? emergency locator is very helpful if you break down or need a local service urgently. Simply tap the car icon on the map screen to view your exact coordinates, nearest address and junction, get contact details for vehicle recovery services and directions to hospitals, police and petrol stations nearby.

I bought this to replace an earlier Garmin and it is so much better: little things like 2 trip meters, speed limit always on screen with actual speed and the extra detail and information that you get on those complicated junctions makes negotiating them a breeze, I could eulagise about this a lot more but breakfast calls!

Ordered the Garmin 2300LT sat nav and it arrived within 4 days (opted for free normal delivery),Thanks Amazon Good service yet again.
As i have always used Tom Tom for 4 years I thought it was time for an upgrade, Tom Tom has always been an old favorite with me but i wanted the lane assist/junctional view option so choose the 2300 model. The box arrived minus the ac power cable and usb cable which is a bit silly not incl these but both are available from Decrescent.com. for less than a tenner. There service is brill too so dont be afraid to buy from them.The first charge on this satnav really took overnight, a bit long but not a problem, the set up is dead easy, it predicts your destination much quicker than Tom Tom did, also seems to get satellites quicker and in the house so can set up destinations easier, so charged and ready to go i did my first run to North yorks from Blackpool, very accurate in miles and time but i found you do need to spread the antennae across the dash board to pick up traffic alerts, (had no incidences en-route so cant comment yet on that).
The lane assist and junctional views are pretty damn good, not only voice prompts road by road but i really found the lane assist useful.
Today i got round to logging on to Garmin site to download free updates, does seem to take ages and then it said some updates were not available? one final thing i fitted a screen protector today and when i switched on i had a blank screen saying press the dot in the lower right hand side of screen, not sure why but googled it and solved it.
Overall this is a damn good sat nav.

SatNav arrived on Tuesday after ordering over the weekend. Have since bought US City Navigator maps to assist in fly drive holiday to USA. Had no trouble feeding in destination points but haven't been yet so can't say how effective it is.
On one journey in the UK SatNav tried to direct us round traffic problems. Thought I knew the route better. Wish I'd listened to it.

Locked up.
